Was it a crest or a regular one? Just kidding....

Sorry to hear about your loss. It is discipline, but once you lock down you won't have a problem doing it again and again.

Hector, I am sorry for your loss.. ?
I too, feel badly for locking up my birds but its for their own good…

I made a attachment for my kit box I call the COOPANATOR
It allows the birds to stretch their wings, it not the same as flying but a lot safer..
Just yesterday I heard the birds get scared and all fly in to the kit box, I seen the shadow of Mr. Cooper go right over the kit box.. So I guess I am one up on Mr. Cooper..
here are some photos I just took...

Good Idea Rudy! I usually just pluck them! I can't fly them
if they have no wings!LOL

I keep these settling cages on the outside of my kit boxes. The birds can always go out into the fresh air and sunlightwhenever they want to. I remove the cages when I fly them

Hector, It takes self discipline, which I have very little of, I know how you feel as I'm guilty of flying and losing all my birds during these tough months in SoCal. This year I made a promise no flying until March/April. I like that setup by RXR, thats in the works. Sixteen kit birds left, hope to have all by spring. Good luck to all.

What I do during lockdown and can't watch the Rollers do their thing,is tune in to other birds, the wild ones and watch them fly.Keep you eyes on the sky and soon you'll see some kinda hawk or falcon or BIG SOB BOP and remember why your birds aren't flying.

Hector,
I can lose just as much birds on overflys as the mainland guys lose to BOP's,because of my location close to the mountain as well as close to the ocean. One thing that has help me resist the urge to fly is Racing homers and bowl my parlor rollers.I not sure if this is an option for you,but I thought I would mention it,because when overfly conditions appear, out come the racers and the rollers.I can count on one hand how many I lost since I have worked this into my routine....Aloha,Todd

Hector, won't you get couple of your freinds which I think there are many of them to come over your house and help you build something like Rudy's (RxR). Have a few cold ones and some meat on the gril and in about a few hours you will be in the business of lock down. Don't forget to put a fresh coat of paint on it to finish it. If I live somewhere near you, I would come and build it for you.

Jay
