Try a 45 degree elbow of black ABS 4" plastic pipe, costs about 10 bucks.cut the hole out the right size with a jigsaw and drill, screw it to the plywood with 5/8ths in screws.make sure you predrill the holes in the pipe.they can fly in but not out no perch on the inside landing board outside.Try to post a pic later. ---------- Kel.

yeeesh, that's allot of work Kel!! LOL If you want, I can get the individual "bobs" and you can construct your own. Or, when I was a kid, we would use metal hangers and bend and shape them ourselves. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

i tried using the metal wires of the rectangle wires for birds. it worked good but they can sometimes get out of it.

So kid you need to make sure the bobs are tight in place. To do that use small doc tape strips about 1/4 inch wide and tape them around the metal bar that is holding the bobs to keep them snug.

if you use clothes hangers as the trap, then how do you make it stay on? do you just rap it around the higher metal bar?

Not alot of work really. These pics I used 45 degree elbows, you could get a 90 and cut it in half I guess save some $$...Mark out the hole with a pencil around the outside of the pipe(nice and tight).start the hole with a drill on the inside of the scribed marks, then use a jigsaw to cut out the rest of the hole.make it so it fits as tight as you can if too tight ream the hole out bigger with a rat tail file.predrill the pipe so the screws(1/2"screws)don't crack the pipe when you use them to secure the pipe in place.mount your landing board then sliding door to close it when not in use or use a landing board on hinges and close up with that.piece a cake.

I dont even use a trapp. When the birds come down fom working, I open the kit door and they all go wright in. Alot of this has to do with the feeding. If they are not hungry enough, they will stay out for days

There ya go Willy, Traps! I doan need no steenkin traps! My birds love me and tell me so everyday. They go right in. It helps when they can see me feeding the other birds first, coupled with flying hungry. I just open the door and in they go. Thats a bit of an understatement. It is a mad rush to the feeder even when I have them fed up.
Dowel doors have a distinct advantage in the fact they can see everything going on in the yard. When I approach the box they are going nuts. It`s a Pavolovian thing. ---------- V99 Flippin`The Bird!

Traps are not just to get your birds in to feed ,, they are good when a hawk chase your birds away and they get lost you leave the trap open so when he gets home he can get right in. --sometimes you have to run in and you not going to leave the big door open..now i have it that a bird comes in through the 4 inch pipes-on a pen i made on the side of the kit box-------this way he is still in safe and the other birds can't sneak out through the trap or a cat or hawk can't get in and kill my other birds..i will post a picture of my set up sometime this week .. I don't think a cat would be able to,but wouldn't leave it open when you're not flying your birds.A coopers could fit in there probably just never leave it open unattended to long or at night.. ---------- Kel.

when i say the regular pipe thingy, i mean the uncut one that is in the store. the whole piece.
yea. i like to see traps being used. that makes them seem smarter. it also makes the breeder look smart like he knows how to train birds.
