I say about 20 should be enough and with bag of feed should do u good ,don't breed alot so you don't over crowd them cause if they get sick because of over crowding you now need to get medicine and thats another 20 bucks .. ---------- Ralph....

One thing that Paul Gomez told me was that impatience can be your worst enemy. Just take your time and start off with good birds, the rest will follow. Good luck

well, they are good for beginners or backyard flyers, but if you are talking about competiton and pro flyers, then they are out of the category. LOL!!
well, they roll 10-15 ft and sometimes 20 ft. and they are very fast, sometimes they fly so fast that it makes a donut shape. but one thing(i dont know if it is a cull) is that most of them will roll when they are in the front of the kit. but other then that they were flying well and kitting was ok, but falcons came so i stopped them.

Good move locking them up till skies are clear.Go ahead and breed a bunch in the spring and fly them then.Hopefully you'll have better luck against the BOPs. Hey,10-15ft ain't bad sometimes 20 if they are frequent and kitting well.Use the eggs off your best ones to hatch out with fosters and get lots of those young to fly and your quality should get better. ---------- Kel.

Tou the reality is you have to keep up in numbers ,due to the fact the the odds are against us like ,over flies ,BOP attacks, roll downs ,for some reason birds get sick and die,and the culling. Focus on what you want or your expectations from your rollers. Start off with that persons family you choose ,to get a head start and avoid some odds. There is alot of good guys that would help you out , but I'm sure you would have to gain their trust since there is a magic act of the disappearing birds. No I'm not saying you do this but once again the reality is, this also is what happens sometimes. Wish you the best.

How do your parents feel about you owning rollers? although that may not seem important to you, That would really help on deciding how many rollers you can breed a season. How many birds your parents will allow you to house on their property, how much space you have. If you're parents are supportive in what you do im sure they can help you on the feed bill. If I were you I would only breed 20 or so and learn how to manage both them and the breeders and keep flying the ones you already are. Learn as much as you can and dont overwhelm yourself. Dont get into the collecting of birds, and get some mentors. Treat them with respect, show them the integrity and honesty you have, and the serious GENUINE interest in the sport and im sure they will help you out. I completley know the dissapearing of birds Richard speaks of, its very sad and puts a definite dampening in the hobby. Good Luck.

yeah. i know how getting birds jacked feels like. after like 30 years or something for some guy. and yes, i dont jack birds because that is considered cheating for me. i rather breed and fly my own and learn the real way then steal some good/bad birds from others.
my mom is ok with them but my dad doesn't like them a lot. actually, my mom helped buy feed for me whenever i dont have enough money. and that is almost all the time.
yes. my dad doesn't like them because of wierd reasons. just to keep me from having them. but, i know they stink, so when i get a new loft and stuff, i will do my best to keep it clean to assure myself that i can keep them.
the BOP is getting worse. in the last couple of days, i come out to see falcons sitting by my loft waiting to get lunch. and sometimes looking down from the telephone wires for any living birds.
ok. thanks everyone for your advices. i will study the space i have and keep and do the most that i can have.
