why dont people or clubs support flys by entering a kit or two to make a fly succesful some clubs ask for bird donations for there club show auctions but when it comes time to enter some kits to support a fly there members are not willing to enter a kit and support a fly why is that

depends on the time of year..I am assuming you are refering to the west coast.. BOP keeps alot of people from flying.

Even if you don`t fly, you can still participate by serving a meal, having the judge and/or RD overnight, doing some driving or any of a number of things.

We have a lot of different flys here in the LA area and we always have at least 25 kits. We should have about 50 or more all the time with all the talk that goes on.

I think most guys don't support the flies because it would show them just how much more work they need to do with there birds.. It's easier to set back an make excusses wy they can't and tell you how to do better. I think most are realy just scared of personal criticism even though they do it.

I've always been kind of a loner up here away from the desert, so I fly for my own enjoyment and to please the kids in the neighborhood. I have another local bird man 4 miles away now! I can't wait to have him critique my birds. As for flys, maybe we'll do a two loft showdown! Lol!

You know that supporting a fly just isn't about entering right? I would rather have some one cheering on my team in my back yard than some one just entering just to enter (never stepping into any other back yards excepts his own).

Just some thing to think about,

Thor

Thor you also have to remember if no one flies but you and we all cheer you can't qualify for the finals so every one that can should fly our pay to fly. We all can't win but need to fly as many kits as posible to get more teams to the finales for your area. who knows when your turn comes to make it and your in second but not enough people fly you can't make it to the big dance.

Right on Silvertail. Without the little people entering in the flys, the Big Dogs could never qualify.

Very good point Thor. There is much more to supporting a fly than just paying a due and expecting for a judge to show up and score you. I have been reading here and some other sites recently where it sounds like very few participants go around and see the fly or if it looks unlikely that you could win you just call in and tell them never mind coming over. To me supporting a fly means that you, as an individual, go and 'support' your regional participants by being there at their loft and watching their birds perform, good, bad or ugly. I also think it means paying your entry and flying, even if your team isnt all that great. Its not just about collecting trophies or titles, its about time and friendships and sharing a common enjoyment in a hobby of flying rollers.

Even when your kit is not working together and scoring points it is still nice to see quality individuals put on a good show. I know most everybody has a few birds they are proud of and show that what the flyer is trying to put together.Put them up.

I know what you guys are saying about not entering. In our local club flies, we only had two fliers. Myself and another flier. It bumped us out of flying in any club flies because we needed at least one more flier - at least 3 flier per sub regions.

Your point is well taken... but I still would like to see more guys tagging along and cheering on their fellow competitors.

What are your thoughts on having only one flier represent the whole region? Why not just let the best represent?

Thanks for the replies,
Thor

I have had rollers for several years, I just this year got enough flying to have a kit of 20. I now have 80 flying. I don't have a kit that roll together, or roll with quality.
I need to believe I have a good kit before I trouble a judge to travel to my home.
I hope to be able to make the Texas fly this spring.

I really dont know why this is,, But for me I was always way to far away to fly anything,, Wrestler knows what im talking about, We still however supported the N.C.R.C in the late 90's early 2000's I think tha Wrestler still try's to get off the mountain from time to time to support. I agree that it's isn only money that shows the support, But dedication to the cause on several diffrent levels. For some it's the amount of money, Thats why as the (9I) R.D, I just told the bros to pay the entry fee for the FF $20.00 a kit and with alittle comunication and cordination we were ablt to make things happen without having a clubfund/pot of money.. I like this program as it keeps the mind on the most important thing and that's flying roller's...it takes more than fancy t-shirts and bucks to make a group of people work twards a common goal.

I dont know about the money issue being the reason for not supporting the flys,I see where some guys have 100+ pigeons and cant put up a good kit? Like Square put it in the
"haters" thread,"talk is cheap, Put up or shut up". Im not talking about the guys that live to far out,I talking about the people who cant live up to their own hype, Their kits cant live up the the stories that they have told people, so rather than be embarrassed they always have an excuse of some sort why they are not flying. Even if your birds are not kitting and scoreing points I have seen a lot of good birds spinning their butts off on fly day.
