Has any body ever seen a roller.. or maybe some other breed of pigeon tumble forward?
I saw it once, and couldn't believe my eyes. Since then I have talked to two other guys who have seen it, and I also read in an APJ (American Pigeon Journal) years back, the Old Dutch Tumblers sometimes tumbled forward.
Gomez
P.S. If you haven't seen or heard of it you really shouldn't have an answer... right?? Sorry guys, this is only directed to a couple of guys on the list. I'd rather hear something I can learn from.

Hey Paul ,how's it going? I heard people talk about these kind of birds but have not seen them yet. I was told by one dude that he had seen them roll up a certain distance- (feet). Man that was to crazy to hear and believe.

Ray, Now I feel a little more comfortable about this subject.
Tha bird I saw go forward was bred By Cornell Norwood, and ha wouldn't hardly even touch a bird that didn't go right back to Pensom.
There were two younger guys that told me that they had one bird that actually rolled three or maybe four revolutions forward. I think that when they bred it they produced another one too.
A friend of Mike Muraviov also told me about a racing homer he had that turned a forward flip now and then.

When I was at a Ferril Bussings a few weeks ago, Eldon Chaney showed me a couple of tumblers in one of Ferrill's pens. Can't remember what kind of tumblers they were, but he said that they rolled forwards! I think that Eldon said he raises a few too,not 100% sure on that though!

I think that they both frequent this site often, hoping they chime in some day! They would both be a great addition to this site! Good people!!!

Thanks Richard,
I hope somebody is working on that trait... Sure would be an interesting thing to see... and it would be a whole new breed too.. I'd sure like to see them if you ever find out who has them.
And when you think of it, it's really wierd that these birds roll backwards too...
Paul

Val,
Wow.. It sure is tempting to think that I might actually be able to find some of those kind of pigeons. Do you think I might be able to get a pair or two.?? I have a space where I could build a seperate cage for them.

Paul this would be a trip to see. I was wondering ,what would be there standard in type, the roll or spin ,even how high would they have to go up? LOL Just think you could start it. DO you think they could be color involved, muffs, crest,or would it have to be just hard color only.LMAO

Paul, If I come up with something,I will contact you off line! I see this conversation going south pretty quick! LOL

I would like to say, if these guys have birds that perform in this manner, I don't think they are experimenting with them! They just have the time and room to enjoy something different, same way with their parlors!

Hey i have post a same post like this before and wow got alot of respond of i was high or been drinking to much or was blind. LOL Never seen one before but heard from 2 different people(uncles) that they have. Many people here disagree with this forward flipping but i would say that i believe more that there are some then there aren't any.

Paul, as a kid I actually purchased one at Boones Feed Store on El Segundo, the bird would roll 5 feet and then start rolling foward, he was a blue grizzle bird! This was in 91.

Val,
I'm ready to start planning a cage for the Front rollers... What breed of tumblers are they..? I heard that Old Dutch Tumblers did that. If I get some i would have to breed, breed, breed and fly, fly, fly.

Luna,
What does this say, buddy...."LOL Just think you start you could it." Man, I know you're dyin' to have some fun with this..!! You were so busy laughing that you forgot to read what you wrote.. But really, the Old Dutch Tumblers I've seen already have muffs.
Whatever they are I have no choice but to inbreed, or as they used to say interbreed... I haven't bred birds this long to do something stupid like outcrossing.

Steve, Yang, Sal, Thanks a lot. Now I know that I'm not crazy.. Sal.. Those birds really remind me of my family..

Paul,I talked to Mr. Cheney and his birds are Turkish Tumblers and they just roll up, not forwards! Looks like once again, I was talking out the wrong end! LOL

I guess that I was trying so hard to absorb so much info about BRs in the short time we had together, that the comment he made about the tumblers just didn't stick very well! Sorry about the confusion!

I'm only in my 40s, this memory thing doesn't get a lot worse with age, does it? LOL

Richard,
Do you remember who those guys were that were talking about it? It sounded like you didn't know the guys, but I just want to make sure. Seems like I have a pretty hot lead going with Val.... but I'd still like to find out.
I've done a search online and didn't come up with anything, but I'm still trying.

Paul,

Do a search on "Russian Court Yard Tumbler" which is "Rostv Katschani Statnije". Do the search on this site first then follow to Google if the info on this site is not enough.

Jay,
Thanks a lot. I am doing a search right now... I got K. D. Spurlings' e-mail address, and asked him, but whe search led me right back to rollerpigeon.com.
Alan Blivens wrote this.
Also, I have 4 pairs of Rostov Katschuni Statnije (Russian court yard performing tumblers) in red, white, black selfs and one pair of Chiliks in red and yellow saddle. These are front wards tumblers and fancy show birds. http://rzhev.tripod.com/statnije/rostov/rostovski.html

Thanks... Still searching.. Paul G

Val, Thanks for checking into it. Still.. rolling up is pretty impressive... WOW... I've heard that a Russian Breed does that...

Does anyone have K. D. Spurlings' e-mail address.? I'd sure like to pick his mind about breeds that flip forward.
The site that has his articles has a contact that doesn't work, and the e-mail there doesn't either.
But I think I know of a guy who has a hen that tumbles forward. I haven't seen it yet. Just found out about it.
