Pat - Yes it is. The original Pensom birds were clean leg, booted and muff. Originally all of the Birmingham Black Country rollers were muffed according to Bill Pensom. If you look at most of the guys that have the Pensom lines you will see grouse or muffs. One of our members, Glen, has some beautiful booted and muffed birds that are hard core. Most of the muff birds go back to the Skidmore, Smith or Plona birds. The black hen's mother is heavy groused. We also have a member in the PRC, who has some pure Smiths and they are heavy muff. You will also find heavy muff gene in the NBRC-68-1220 lines and others. That black hen’s mother ripped and you should breed some good ones off of her. The Coopers have grouse but if you put two of the grouse leg birds together the muff gets longer. Some of the best I had from Bruce were grouse leg. the best I had from Bruce were grouse leg.

Coyote - All of the band numbers you mentioned are pure Plona blood that go back to Smith birds and they were muff or groused. I hope all is well with you.

Pat, What is long to you? Are you talking about Contenital stuff long? My birds can be heavily muffed as well if doubled up but nothing near what I have seen from the Contenitals. Doubling up means two birds carrying the muff gene (both can be cleaned legged or just showing a tint of boot). Can you show me what is considered long to you by posting photos? Some booted birds can be very attactive especially the Blacks with all white leggings. Thor

Pat - The squeakers look good. Just like their grandmother. We would call those boots or grouse legged. You should see some real fast ones out of these!

HC, Those are way too long for my likings. Nice birds, just not some thing I care for. They must fly with their legs spread out catching a lot of air? Some of my muffs do that all ready and they are not even half that length. Thanks for the photos... Thor
P.S. The Thomas Hatcher line resembles your birds... well at least the ones I see in my area do.

HC, Not saying that they can't spin. As the ones in my area are darn good birds. Just don't care for the feather on their legs. To each his own. Thor
Here is a '05 kit bird that is still rocking it in the air for my old bird team. The father is cleaned legged, the mother has just a tint of feather legs. The mother leggings resembles Pat's Red Check Breeder. This is as long as I want my birds to get. This Lavender Griz Tick is heavily line bred from the Lavender Stud of J. Leroy Smiths. Same stuff Thomas Hatcher used to start his stud. I think that is the root of all my Muffs. I don't get many muffs but when I do, they are of this length.
20 footer with solid velocity and style... on the big side.
