This pair was given to me by Mr. Sam Pate here in south Georgia. Mr. Sam is 90+ and in poor health so he can no longer take care of his birds.

The originals that these birds are decended from came out of Tennessee back in the 60's. They are about 1/3 again larger than the other BR's he gave me. He told me that this line has been kept separate from the others all along.

Hey Snakedoc, you stated "larger than the other BRs".You're not seriously implying these are rollers of any type, are you? Certainly not BRs.LOL..
They look like some old line of racing homer. My wild guess...maybe Fabry or Bastin.Very old lines.

Snake, I dont really know what to call those colors. They do look like they are nicely maintained, but they dont resemble any Rollers I`ve ever seen.

Y'all need to remember that a "Coonass" carries a knife and a gun!

I am green as gourd guts at this, the birds were given to me from Mr. Sam Pate, he did not say they were rollers but didn't say they weren't. As you see I can't tell the difference..... I also have a pair of whites, no tellin whether they are rollers or not and he gave me 3 pair of rollers????? 5 of the birds are reds of some sort and one lavender (Spread)?

I'm laughing with you guys, almost as much as the time I took a buch of city boys snipe hunting!

I'll post the pictures of the others to see if the joke is on me.

So.......no one knows what color, huh?????

SD,
Thats funny!!!!!
I might call the first one a black spangle even though its white, the black feathers stand out on the bird. If there where more black then white, I would have called it a Black Mottle.
The other bird is a blue check mix wing with allot of white in the chest. Im not the expert here by any means and IM sure you will get some more positive responses to help you out.
PS... Thanks for the recipe on thanksgiving.......

SD, racer guys would call the light one a grizzle and the other blue check splash I would say. Don't know about the bronze bars on the blue ? Definetly homers though. You'll find there are different names for the same color in different breeds.Seems everybody has different terminology.
Hope this helps.
