Will, I don't know how "ideal" this bird is.. but he was pretty da-- good. Rolled with the wings held at their highest point (touching), showed a small hole, and was a speedball. Paul

An Ideal roller might be different from me to every one else.
But we all look at the same thing and we try to improve are birds.
velocity, depth, control, type, frequency, style, character.
You can't judge a book by the cover. This bird is the opposite of what I like on type but he sure was excellent in the air and good in the breeding. He is a big long cast bird.

Hey Bigwilly........Great post..Thats a very simple question to ask. But a difficult one to answer. Ideal to what extent? It might be better if you got alittle more specific. What is it that you want to know exactly? Iam curious to hear what some of your answers are too. ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul

Hey. This is my ideal CCRC-03-#1488. This was the deepest, fastest birds I had raised in years, Until I bred his Son KGB-05#11.. These were the type of bird that when flown in WC or FF everyone in the yard would ask about and want to handle when they landed. This cock bred on his full sister, has been a hit mating, putting many birds in the A teams..KGB

HI Laron, Yea, he is 1079 x369 with some 3845 rare hen, 313 and 272 behind him.. He is a Grandson to my Holywood cock Bird CCRC-88-#1090.. One of the cock's I consider a building block in my family that turned things around from flying birds that were stiff but could roll well. Another mating I hit on was KGB-92-#144 x #92. This pair had some #145 blood, and the same as above. Nearly every bird in my lofts today can be traced back to these 3 birds. I have used a few others over the years, but always back to the progeny of these 3 birds.. I have done a lot of inbreeding with this family over the years.. Even though they are highly related, when I cross the two, I consider it a family out cross. I got started with this family in 84-85. They have been good to me. Like all families you have to learn them and they have their short comings. On their good days, I have seen none better, if I had, I would have those! On their bad days, well, THEY SUCK!! LOL Sorry for rambling on, you now how it is when you start to talk about your passion and this family of Birmingham rollers are my passion. KGB
PS.. Here is a daughter that was fantastic off the old Holywood cock. #959

Steve Agent,
Just a question. Do you know if Marty Belk in NC has your family of birds. Or does Joe Bob Stoka has any of your line beside Charlie. Thanks.

Hi Steve,
Steve regarding the Black Mottle and the mottles you have those are nice ones. Do you get that color a lot or not. The offspring I have are most all blue checks or dark checks.

Quick, with my method of breeding I get a balance of colors/patterns. I get a fair share of the mottles both red and black. Steve
