Tao,
Just put some pairs together and breed them, fly the youngsters. It will be the best experience you can get at this point. Nothing can replace fly time.

tou, I think Ray said it best..

But guy's come-on.. Cut the kid some slack..
He has the guts to post his questions..
And I believe he is honestly looking for guidance from fellow Roller owners

If only we had the World Wide Web back in our younger days just think what we would know and were we would be...

In most cases we only received our information from the local feed store or fellow pigeon buddy and some times the info was no good..

So, tou I hope we shed some light on you ponderings.

Besides, the only one allowed to ponder on the site is Nick. lol

Tou if you stock many birds in a few month you gonna have many birds to fly..a win win situation.three or four kits..

why would your "stock" birds be sorry? or is that a hypothetical question? They were stocked for a reason right? To answer your question to Ralph, yes that would still be "good" because you still have three or four kits flying keep in mind thats regardless of their quality. If you wanted quality birds that you can flyout, then your stock birds wouldnt be sorry. get it? As far as building a 20 bird A TEAM your going to need to breed more birds than that, take into consideration the array of problems where you might lose or cut a few birds and the rerserve you would need to replace the lost and cut birds. Just my thought, keep in mind its 3am so im not sure if everythings making to much sense on my end!

Hey Tou, why would your stock birds be "sorry"? If they are sorry, why did you put them in the breeding pen?

There is a breeding axiom says that "like tends to produce like". So if you want to have a chance at breeding good birds, you have to start with good birds.

Send me your mailing address and I will send you a free copy of my publication "How To Breed Better Rollers". I think it will provide you with a better perspective and position you to understand the process of breeding quality rollers.

Use the CONTACT US at the top right of the page. Good luck!

Tou,

if you go to guys house and he hsas more stock birds than kit birds, RUN at full speed away!

If you don't fly the birds, how do you know what to stock?

the guys that are stocking 5 or 6 birds a year and never have a kit to fly are regressing, not advancing.

Every great breeder I know can put a kit up and has 3x the number of kit birds as breeders. Most end up breeding 100 kit birds for every top quality stockbird they have.

If you only have room for 20 birds, I would take your best two pairs and breed them year round. If you have room for 4 pairs, breed the best 2 pairs and foster the eggs.

I have 4 kit boxes and I only breed from about 6 pairs but I have two that I will pump the first half of the season and try to get one full kit out of those 2 before letting th eother pairs breed and raise their own.

focus on the best stuff you have as hard as you can and with whatever spce you have.

Firl
