LUIS..... I live in Ohio. It stays pretty cold from Nov thru March. I try to put them together in mid Feb. I breed them all the way up thru July. Then I separate them until I start to breed them the next yr. But, hopefully by that time I will have some kinda heat in my new loft. Just not sure of what kind of heating I will use as of yet. ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul

This year I am changing my breeding setup. Last year we were hit with heavy snow and snap of two weeks worth of bitter cold weather in the middle of April which screwed up my breeding season. My first batches of youngsters were at the end of June and I kept breeding to late September to make up the loss of time. I usually stop breeding at the end of July.
Normally I breed out of 8 pairs in separate compartments. This coming year, I am going to start breeding at the beginning of March and utilizing an open loft setup. I have since setup my loft for heat lamp usage. With separate compartments, I couldn't breed more that 8 pairs. I've been using stackable rabbit cages for breeding. This year I am going to breed out of 14 pairs. I will get hit in my A team since I will promote 12 birds. However, I can breed more birds in a short time and have the full summer to work them and still stop the breeding program at the end of July...if God is willing.
I am planning to breed about three rounds of each pair and have around 60 to 70 youngsters. I am going to have my hands full this coming summer training youngsters.

I always started the week of Thanksgiving and usually go thru Aug. This year I started earlier and have one round in the kit boxes and another ready to band soon.I am going to break after this round untill late March or Early April to start again. I think I can beat the flying problems this year if weather don't mess me up. But I have a few pair of rollers going year round with my projects. David

I usually pair up 1st of January, but this year I put them together week after thanksgiving. I use a radiator type heater this year. I also use a small fan with filter material attached to the back of it to filter out the dust in the loft. I`d like to stop breeding in May. I have 12 pairs in individual cages. We`ll see how this works this year. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts
