Spanky, Same thing happened here yesterday at 4:30pm. A nice 2 year old cock that was on lockdown for the winter flew out of the box and got nailed within 5 minutes. Man that sucks big time!

Does not get anyt better upnorth
I lost about 35=40 young to bop
Ihad a handfull of youngsters maturing that i kept flying so that i can prove the breediing pairs
SAW some good spinning but eventually lost all the birds .
When i was a kid I remember going to the farmers market and somebody was selling baby grows not for the bop issue
Is it true that crows will chase off bop?

Hi Spanky
My neighbor even called me today to say there was a hawk going crazy trying to get into my bird cages. I hauled out to the cages and the Cooper took off. Every time a new Cooper comes they go nuts over my cages.
Yesterday a friend can over and he spotted a Cooper on the telephone pole waiting for a pigeon to get out. The hawk is defiantly getting worse each year.

Spanky, I was having this same problem this year with birds getting out of my kit-box and sure enough, they where good as gone. So I took a piece of wire that fits the size of the door when opened but I left enough room to slip the feed try into the kit box. I use it when I put my try in and when I take it out. So far, not one loss, IT HAS WORKED OUT GREAT. If you would like to see photos, I will post some tomorrow, but its a real simple solution. ---------- Ray

luis, good thing to do but not all of the birds are going to get feed becuz I know the built in feed wont be big enough... thats why the tray spread the seeds... unless you have to feed all your birds until they are really full... this will take more feeds,..

This is how i do it and i never lose a bird..it has three kit boxes and i handle all the birds in there, and every birds comes in through the middle 4 inch pipes never have to leave trap door open..If you don't have the space you can cut a small door on the side of kit box and attach a small cage onto it.. and you can feed them there, and every time you clean and you can push them all there too.. Ray, Idea is great too... ----------

Oldfart help yourself,, thanks for the comments guys..I'm going to post a shot of the birds coming through the hole . great for the birds to bathe in.,exercise in,,eat and there are times i go after them like try to catch them in the air and they have to elude me ,so like getting there reflex incheck, like a boxer when he is working the speed bag or sparring for reflex action..hoping this helps them out when BOP comes after them,,lol,I know it sounds crazy.. It appears to be a way to attract the POB. Look arround you and you will spot them perch on a tree not too far away waiting.

I don't have that problem like some guys have it over where they at. there is only like one falcon that comes from the mountains on the other side i always see him coming i have a big rock i go uo on and with binoculars and spot when he comes and goes back, thank god i don't have it like some that the BOP goes on top and grabs a bird or goes in bottom and gets a bird from under .. Smoke, I have half of wood flooring and half with rocks... ---------- Ralph....

for you guys out there since its cold or if you worry about BOP,,you can have plywood put all around that you can take off in summer and put back on in winter..either way it beats losing a bird because he got away and BOP gets him anyway.. ---------- Ralph....
