Hi All,

This one has just come through 911 Pigeon Alert, and I think it is a roller. If so, can anyone put me in touch with the band secretary for the club? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I am pasting in the post from the finder of the bird.

12/11/07 This pigeon landed on the hood of my truck, while i was working on it today. I am not a birder, ! But helped a friend catch two lost homing pigeons years ago. I assumed the bird on my truck was a lost homer or racer and lured it into a pet carrier with some wild bird seed. It has a band on one leg, and is very calm and tame. The band reads ohio 2006 439 the birds head and back are colored like a comon pigeon, but has white wings and belly. As i said, i am not a birder and need to get this bird to someone who can care for it properly thanks for any help dave in medina, ohio dfeola@outdrs.net

Jay,
You just grabbed my attention when you said only twenty minutes from Medina.
Won't be out that way again until probably next summer but my daughter is only fifteen minutes from Medina. She lives in Wellington, Ohio.
Where are you at? I think I will have to look you up and see some birds fly the next time I am out there provided of course you extend an invitation.

Hey Jay, do you know the club name Richard M. belongs to?

Jay, do you attend the all breed shows in Fremont? Jim Feesel always sends me the flyers. Ive made it to a few but not all of them. Even though I no longer have any birds that are not Birmingham Rollers. I used to raise some real nice Frillbacks and Wests, and my wife had some Norwich Croppers. My daughter even had a bunch of Giant Runts, but she could`nt afford for me to keep feeding them, LOL

Jim Feesel is out of rollers. I know Saun, Jim Hall, R. Miller in that area. I never attended that show. I might look into it.

Jay,

Retrieve the bird to show others we take care of our own.
I received a call last year; a lady had found a wounded
bird and wanted to know if I could help her.

She had contacted the owner and he would not come and pick the bird up. I picked the little hen up.

Long story made short.
SHE is AWESOME.

Thanks, Jay. I'll e-mail you Dave's (the finder) information. If you can meet up with him and take over care of the bird, that would be wonderful. I'll have to look back through the previous OHIO banded birds that have come through 911 Pigeon Alert, but I don't think we have ever been successful in locating any of the owners, so you may be ending up with another bird.

Thanks again!

Thanks for letting me know, Jay. I've been waiting for Dave to reply to my post requesting his phone # for you. I'm glad it's working out .. was getting a little concerned since I have not heard back from Dave.

Yes Terry. The bird was recovered by me on Saturday. Currently is quarantined and on antibiotic for 10 days just to make sure no problem with the bird. He is healthy, active and very tame. Dave is a very good man. He cares dearly about animals of all kinds.

Thank you so very much for taking in this bird, Jay. Shall I close the case out on 911 Pigeon Alert as being adopted by you, or shall we continue to try and track down someone that can lead us to the owner of the bird? Either is fine with me .. it's your call. I could also try to find someone else in the area to adopt the bird if you do not want to keep it. Just let me know.

Many thanks!

You can close it from your end. I will follow up with an email to my friends in the surrounding communities to see if someone will claim it. If not, I will adopt it. This bird is 2006 bird with Ohio band; it must be from the folks down in Ashland, Clyde, Attica, Fremont or one of Jim hall’s in Marion, Ohio. I will track it.

Richard Miller, is it one of yours?
Paul Dersch is this bird one of yours?

Thanks, Jay! I will close it out on 911 Pigeon Alert. If you do ever find who to contact on these OHIO bands, could you please let me know. We've had quite a few of them come through 911 Pigeon Alert and no success in getting any of them back to the owner. All were found good homes, but we do like to see the birds returned whenever we can.

No problem Terry. Any way, if any birds found close to my county, I will be more than happy to recover the bird and adopt it if no one claims it. By the way, my own birds have the initial on the bands "JALN" and I do lose some during the summer. If any reported your way, please let me know. Thanks.

Jay
