how best to prepare your birds for breeding any useful tips from anyone

Yes, the first thing and at least couple of weeks before breeding, give them 4 n 1 mixed with their water for the recommended time on the package. This will prevent any of the nasty illness due the stress of breeding. It is important that you give them this preventative medication.

Jay, great post I will also add that I would recommend that you also worm your birds I use Ivomec. Good Luck!

great advise ,don't forget to give them,Provital Pigeon Breeding Plus.good for the birds after giving all that medication..

I always heard that you want to worm them and give them a shot for PMV.

I usually give mine the PMV in the fall after I break the pairs up. I have only had illness in the winter so far. I do almost the same procedure after breaking up as re- pairing. Wormer 3 days,4n1 5 days,aeuromycin 5 days,sal bac injection followed up by 5 days of probios.

Sounds like a good practice. I will have to keep this in mind. What or when to do pair them back in the loft??
