Hey Jim, You still got birds?
Here are a few of my current/past team members that were bred off Don's stuff he sent to MN.
'05 Blue Bar Hen - very fast and stylish 30 footer. All ways shaggy in look. I suspect due to her velocity of spin. Flew high at times.
Jim I picked up this hen from you when you got rid of your lot. She was a key bird in team until taken by a falcon last year.

'05 Blue Check Self Cock - very fast stylish 50 footer. Shows the hole from the side. A key bird and stand out in my current team. Will see if he certifies in our program in '08.

'05 Dirty Blue Check Self Hen - Multi depth 60 footer. Above average velocity but very good style. What can I say, solid kit bird. A bird I trust to do her job every time out! Will see if she certifies in '08 for my local club's certification program.
Thor
P.S. Jim this is also another bird I picked him from you when you got rid of them. She never even flipped until a year later. She is now a key bird in my current team.

'06 Red Check Self Cock - Fast 15 footer with good style. Gave to a newbie to help him start off in the right foot. All ways broke on the breaks and solid performer. I trust this bird every time out. Started out super fast and extremely deep 80 foot easy. Don't know what happened but it shorted up after 3 months of rolling deep.
Thor
P.S. Kicking myself for not keeping this bird but gonna help out the new guys every now and then.

All birds above were bred from the Don stuff he sent to MN (Total of 8 pairs flown and selected by Don i Believe). They are still kicking butt in my team except for the Blue Bar and Red Check self. Not much to choose from in color. The birds I have flown out were mostly late developers - some very late 1 year plus. My best hen in the kit is that Blue Check Self hen that came in way past a year. Seems to only add more velocity as they age. Only have been flying this family for 3 years, so I can not tell you what they are able to do in the breeding pen. I did cull a few for no performance or simply just culls - non kitters, poor style, shallow rollers, etc. A great family, just as good as any thing out there or better. I have really enjoyed flying this family. Thor

Mike, Nice to see you post. I heard Milwaukee got 3 foot of snow not to long ago. Chest high snow I hear. Hope the Great Lake didn't dump that kind of footage in your area as well - with that lake effect snow.
Sorry I missed you Judging our area in the NBRC Fall Fly. Heard you did one heck of a job. Would of been nice to have connected again, it's been a while. Those two Blue Check selves were birds Dick and John E. commented on last when I flew the gang for them during the August Club meeting. Would of been a better show but the cooper had been hitting me hard those couple of months. Had the old birds locked down for the July and Aug months (no local flies) to moult out and have a break from all that air dodging. A week for notice and the BOPs were on their butts every time out was not much for pepping for guests. They still did me proud for the air time they logged in prior to release for Dick and John.
I'm building a kick butt 20 bird team right now. Hope to put them up for all to see this flying season.
I recorded all the birds I flew that you bred. I'll email you the info when I find it. It is back up on one of the hundred of CD-Rs I have in my roller files CD. Hope the old email address I have on file for you is still active. Dick told me you had some computer problems not too long ago. Glad to see you up and running again.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Thor
P.S. Thanks to you, we now have another quality family to choose from in our area. Thanks again for purchasing them Don Ouellette birds. Man, the new guys are so luck now with all the different choices of family of birds in our area now.
P.S.S. Would love for you Northern Guys to come judge one of our local club flies next year? What say you NBRC Fall Fly judge?

Hector the dark check bronze goes back to 68-11315 dark check bronze bred by Stan Polona. I have bred that family top and bottom for many years and the grandfather sold for #700. dollors. Thor the birds you have look like the 272 and sister hen family. The blue bar and blue check look more like the 68-11315 Stan Poloma family. The birds Joe posted look more like the Stan Polona family. Don has been breeding them from the nineteen eightees therefore they are his family of rollers, I remember when Don bred and flew them in the California Birmingham Roller Club and Performing Roller Association. I flew in both clubs and judged his birds and they are very good Rollers. Incidenley, those same birds are bred in my loft to but bred differently. Good luck with your birds! Ray

Ray, All I know is that they were bred from Don Ouellette banded birds. That is good enough for me beside the fact that I have flown these birds out myself. Still flying the best out of the lot today. They are very good birds in the air and have very explosive kit chemistry.
I do have one question for you tho Ray. There seems to be a lot of 'A' style rollers in this family. 9 out of 10 super fast roller would be of this style. At least the ones I have seen flown. Is this the style you have notice as well. I know there are guys in Cali that like this style. These gentleman breed strictly for this style. I am not a big fan of it myself but do like the velocity I see out them ('A' styled rollers). Just curious? Thor

Thor,
Nice to hear that they are doing good for you. I have been out of rollers for over a year now and it seems forever. It got to the point where it was too dangerous to be chasing people out late at night. Caught and tazed one of them, but didn't get my birds back.
Hope to get back into rollers, but haven't found any plans yet on how to build a loft out of cement blocks.
The only birds that I can have now is gouldian finches and indoor birds.
Jim
