Hello, my name's Ramiro and I recently got into the pigeon hobby. I became interested first when I saw some fancy pigeons at the Topsfield Fair a couple of months ago. I did some research and bought a couple of fancy pigeons at the Sturbridge Show a couple of weeks ago. Currently I have 4 old german owls and 2 gazzi modenas. I really like them but I think I would prefer a pigeon I could watch fly around my home. I was on youtube today and saw some videos of some rollers that rolled very close to the ground and on top of roofs. All the videos were taken in other countries and I am unsure if we have them here in the States. If someone knows what they're called or has some please let me know. I'd also like a breed that will fly circles around the loft in a tight formation and stay relatively close to the ground so I may get a good look at them. I am willing to pay for birds or trade what I already have. Please let me know if you keep pigeons and are in my area. Also where is the best place to get pigeon feed around here? Or is it only the internet? There's a co-op near my home but they only offer pelleted pigeon feed (Nutriblend) and 11% pigeon feed. Not much selection.I'd really like to get some from Brown's but I can't find a close distributor.

I was wondering if anyone had pigeons that rolled like these. They roll very low to the ground at rooftop height.

These birds here roll at about the height I'd like them to:

I also like birds that roll like this one. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ydEYA9-lrvE&feature=related

Hey Ramiro, As the guys have said, these are rollers we breed, train, fly and compete with. Do some more research to make sure this is the direction you seriously want to go in as far as flying birds. We value our birds highly, even those we sell or give away. This site and it's archives are a good way to start. I live just outside Boston and have been a competition flyer for years. If your serious email me at redbar20@aol.com and we'll go from there! Otis

After seeing more videos, I think Birmingham rollers are my best bet. I'd prefer some white or special colored ones since I have no intention of flying competitively just yet. I just want to let them fly around and watch.

Ramiro, I would recommend you to visit a few lofts (flers) a few times before purchasing any birds! Ramiro I think the birds sold on this site (Ruby's) would benefit you as well, A lot of guys on this site are enjoying them greatly! Good Luck!! ---------- Sal Ortiz

This hobby isn't very popular with 22 year old college students and thus, a lot of my friends have been busting my balls over it, which is fine by me since I understand. They think of pigeons as nothing more than flying rats. I was wondering if there were some odd-colored birmingham rollers or other rollers that looked nothing like a feral pigeon. Thanks again.

Welcome Ramiro,,, Go to the top of this page and see where it says Ruby Rollers click on that look at the pictures and tell me if those birds look good or not,,,learn everything about this breed "The Birmingham Roller "it can do anything any other bird can do and then some, fly and roll like a spinning ball falling from the sky,,no rat can ever do that .so I suggest you learn a little go back and teach your friends ,they don't know only what people taught them ,negative stuff,,you Educate them and bring them in .we are like the Marines looking for a Few Good Men... these birds once they see them perform their jaws would drop....take care.. ---------- Ralph....
