Pat, More comonly used by fanciers that have and show birds exclusively. It's a good feather conditioner for show birds, it's not much help for compition birds. ---------- R.Luna/HDRC LUNA'S LOFT

I read in the pigeon by levi, I think it was in that book that it had a calming efect on your birds. Also when you open the kit box door to have them fly, they will just set there and laugh at you all red eyed!!! ---------- Tapp

I think I read it can help get birds into the mood for breeding, also used as a tasty treat.
All it does with me is put me to sleep!

i did some research on this when used to show pigeons in the late '80s to mid '90's the problem is in order for seed companies to sell it it has to sterile(unable to germinate) so they steam it to sterilize which in turn renders it almost worthless as a feed if a seed won't germinate it is useless as a feed scott

Central, your right on the money with that info..so is smk..about the quality.
.Pensom states that he gave his birds hemp seeds "In winter time we feed mostly small maize or corn and a small portion of dari, occasionally a few peas and always a handful or two of hemp seed.....Hemp seed is certainly good for rollers in the winter month and no roller fancier should be without it...one grain that is of no earthly use to Rollers is barley, which has the effect of making the rollers fly too long and they developed a wondering flight which prevents then from working as they should. Barley also causes the feathers to become dry and brittle .
Merry X Mas guys and Happy New Year.
