I don't agree Keith.I think great performers could show up in any color if properly bred.A good breeder can get good performers in all colors.Genetics are a funny thing!Myths are even funnier !!!

WELCOME !!BERD!!!
Keith ,the difference between SELFS, W/F or BDG is nothing. I believe that colors of cetain lines is with in that persons line or family. If that was so as some people say that grizzles are hot, ress reds are the best, badges give frquency, and so on,this game would be so easy and scientific, but it's not.

I think color makes them look faster. I have 3 birds that are almost pure white and they look a lot faster then any of my other birds

Smoke,
coming from a loft that breeds all of those you mentioned, I see no difference in performance from one color pattern to another. I have bred great birds with all markings, and junk with all markings.

As they say, you cant see that badge at 600' when their spinning.

It is the background that makes the difference between the solid selves and W/F or badges rollers. Solid color birds except the white selves will look faster when the sky is clear and not a cloud in the sky. W/F or badges will look faster in a cloudy or hazzy sky. The sky structure creats an illusion of speed or lack of depending on the birds you are flying against the sky background.

all are great responses. i don't think selfs are faster than badges, i don't think reds cary all the frequency. it all depends on the families and each was cultivated. i've seen fams with frequent checkers and fams with stiff reds.
IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE FAMILY!!

I'VE SEE SCOTT CAMBELL'S BIRDS WORK AS HARD OR HARDER THAN ANY RED AND HIS BIRDS ARE PROBABLY 90% DRK CHK SELFS IF NOT HIGHER.

hey! another one that looks great in the sky spinning is a
black and white badge, as one of the guys said sometimes its a illusion, but it looks great especially when they can show the hole in the spin.
