Shut down. Because sooner or later you will but it is better sooner so you can have something to fly in March. Otherwise, all what you will see is the hunter and the hunted and the chase. Your young will become Hawk warry and they will fly too fast and become spooked. You will not be able to break them from that bad habbit and they will become worthless.

You really need to lock down right now and fly in till April.
You will do it ones you realise that you are loosing too many birds. Some times it's too late and you lost one of your best ones.
LOCK DOWN, you will help also the other flyers around you making the BOP mouve to another place.
If the BOP got one of your birds he will be back for another one, thrust me on that.

Been there, done that. Can't cry about losing a bird. Especially a young one that has not even rolled yet. That seems to be the name of the game now a days with the increasing number of BOP within the city limits. Now crying over a kit of old birds that you have spent hundreds of countless hours flying, caring, and feeding I can understand. I use to lose a kit of 20 in a 2 months period. Counting lock down time. Out of 2 full kits, I would be lucky to have 3 birds left in August. Lost whole young bird kits in one release is a common practice. Would only have culls left in the end of the year. I don't know what is worst, living within a wildlife area where it contains pairs of resident Coopers and falcons or in the middle of the migration pathway where you may get up to a 1000 Coopers/falcons fly thru in a month time? I guess they are the same as you will still lose a lot of birds on any release. My point is, it can be worst. I know it is as I lived it. Many other guys still live it. Thor
P.S. I now fly in a whole lot different environment. Having to lock down only 4 times in year with 2 weeks at most. 10 birds is the average BOP lost. That is music to my ear from where I use to be at.

I've been locked down since mid October and won't fly until maybe late March or April. I have a feeling I've got some resendential preds. too. In that case I can only hope for the best. Good luck to everyone else.
