Guys, If you had a kit that was say 6 months old before breaking them out. Would their performance suffer or just be slowed?
Would they EVER be able to reach their peak and kit, as well as perform properly? (OR) Would a kit that had been broken out and were kitting well, but weren't into the roll when you locked down.
Which would you say had a better chance of turning out to be good performers. The ones that had been locked down for 6mo.before being broke out, or the ones that were only kitting before being locked down? Or would you just scrap them and start over in the spring? Just something to think about!!!

I THINK LOCKING THEM DOWN SCREWS THEM UP. I HAVE NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES WHEN I LOCK A BIRD DOWN THEY START TO ROLL DOWN WHEN I START FLYING THEM AGAIN

This is part of the reason I start breeding early. I am fortunate that the BOPs are not as bad here. I plan to have the first young kit in the air, end of febuary, first of march. This will give the plenty of fly time to develope. On the later kits, I fly them till they start to roll. If I dont see some good roll, I dont lock them up. I have 1 kit of late hatchs that were not spinning in sept, and I am still flying them. Most are spinning now.
In September I will lock down those that I dont want to risk losing, but if it dont roll, I take my chances and keep flying them. They either start to roll, or they dont get locked up. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

I have mine on lockdown right now. I do try to fly them once per week, an yes, I have seen them roll down when first letting them go.

Thanks Guys for your input.
Thanks Sal, I'm still flying everyday weather permitting. It was just a few questions that I have been thinking about. You know the family's that are later coming into the roll, it would concern them more than the ones that come in earlier. (Reread my post I think you misunderstood but thanks)
