Hey guys. I breed in individual boxes and I notice that sometimes the hens are extreamely weak where that will not even get up on there feet for a couple of days. I know that is probably because of lack of sunlight. Some light get in but not alot. My question is, do you think that pellets would be better to feed than mix grains? I heard that pellets has some minerals that are put in them that is good for caged birds is this true?

Big, I would recommend that you give them some vitamins as well and maybe some pro-bios, I use pellets and they seem to work fine in the breeding season. Big, you just got to watch out for the dumps!LOL ---------- Sal Ortiz

Big, When the hens get weak like that, is it just after laying their eggs? Or does this happen every now and then when they're not laying?
I had one this year that couldn't walk right after she layed a clutch of eggs. So I started giving her extra calcium and she was up doing good in a couple days. This was an older hen of about 10 years.

Big, I would start making it a practice giving your birds vitamins! I would only use the medicines when needed. ---------- Sal Ortiz

Make sure there's ample amount of oyster shell grit in the breeding compartments. Also i would try the birds on 4 in 1 just as a precautionary measure ---------- Regards W@yne UK
