Steve, You beat me again..LMAO 1,000.......WOW
Real happy with my first year, hope I can breed up as may good ones this year. But as we all know, there are no guarantees in life and its easer to screw up a good family of birds then it is to keep on top of the quality. So hopefully I wont screw it up.........lol ---------- Ray

Congrats Steve on yer 1000 post you've posted some fine looking birds over that period of time and some good info.
I feel like i am going forward in my breeding programme every year i seem to be getting slightly better results than the last and lets be honest i think that is what all aim for. I have flew in numerous comps before but 2008 will be a challenge for me because i am entering in comp for the first time with this new strain that i have had for three years so this will be a big tester for me. I will just keep going with my head down and hope there will be some luck on my side in 2008. ---------- Regards W@yne UK

First, congratulations Steve, I am very satisfied with this years program. I got off to a late start but even so, I think I was able to produce enough birds that are equal to my starter stock. I have enough young birds for fosters and enough to get back out for an early hold-over kit. The short flying season was hopeful. Tony's birds kit very tight and work well together. My plans for the coming year are simply, more of the same. Best young to it's parent from two pair, what I consider my #1 pair and #2 for a projected outcross someday. Then fly, fly, fly! I hope everyone has a successful upcoming season with full kit-box's of their very best!!

I hope to at least match last year. I wish There was no wind on finals day! but thats the cards your dealt often in this sport. Luck and a good Weather on fly day have alot to do with it. I'll keep my same pairs together another year, I was happy with the results! and my breeders are young and have a lot of years to pop out rollers.I hope to improve my birds every year. In reality I hope to at let match my guality yeasr after year. It would be bad news to go backwards but I can see where that wouldn't take much error on my part to mess things up. I think we have to be very strict With what we keep for breeders. I think it's ok to try some out and put back in the kit because we might lose them to Varmits!!!! I think some years back you could get away with a lot more as far as flying breeders in your kits that were 4-5 yrs old. Them time's are gone and not likly to return so we have to adjust to birds that come in the roll quicker and less fly time. which in the LONG run will most likly lead to disaster! Congratulations Steve! Kim Tappenden ---------- Tapp

No,I am not happy with my results this year! I raised several birds this year and so far,I won't be stocking anything! Blame it on my management skills! I made some critical mistakes this year, but I feel that I learned from them and have no doubt that this year will get better! I do believe that I have the genetics to have quality kits, just have to learn more about my birds and what makes the tick! I believe most of my problems are in the feeding!
Congrats Steve! Its been an honor having you here!
Tony, better get two of them "hat mailing" boxes out, I'm almost there!LOL ---------- Val

I am not satisfied with my program nor will I ever be. To be satisfied is to reach a plateau. Unless you are winning every comptetetion and have eggs rolling in the nest, you still have work to do. Each season is a time for analysis and introspection. We plan and scheme over the winter .We breed different pairs together each season for..... better birds, higher percentages?
Always strive to move forward. Achieve better results each season. It is all within reach. Satified...I think not. ---------- V99

Well this season is gonna be a back to the future scenario. There is an old saying "Ya gotta dance with the one that brung ya."
After breeding a bunch of jacs I really dont like them compared to my old line birds. They dont like me or my program, little wussies. lol I am going back thru my records and seeing what I have where and breed more of what I like and what works with my management style. In addition I will have the new loft ready by breeding season. Should make it easier to do the things I havent been doing by having all the birds under one roof and within arms reach. Like my old sergeant used to say,Its time to tighten up troop. g/l ya`ll

I am satisfied with my accomplishments for last year (2008). I got started in the spring, and have acquired some quality rollers to get started with. Thanks to Brian Middaugh, Bob Adams, and Mont Bone. I have breed or acquired 30 young birds that I am flying. One is super smooth and 30 to 40 feet. I plan to fly them in competition this year. The Utah State Roller Club has been very welcoming, and the Utah county guys have offered to drive 1.5 hours to see my birds for local flies. I have learned a lot about feeding, and my birds have gotten a lot better in the last few weeks. I hope to be able to pick out a couple of breeders from these birds to use in 2010. As for now they have to earn a spot still. Some real good prospects though. I am a small operation and will probably not have more than 6 to 8 breeders at any time. But I do have a foster family that I will have an equal amount of breeders from to help me. I look forward to evaluating this year’s young birds, my first competition fly, and seeing how many young I can band in 2009. I also hope to better understand how to use the multipliers while judging.
