1. To learn all I can from you guys.

2. To breed enough from 4 pair of Rubys to have a couple of kits to fly.

3. To manage my birds well enough to get optimum performance from those in the breeder loft and in those in the air.

4. Out wit the BOP and keep from losing birds from stupidity!

Just to be able to keep my birds so that i can evaluate my stock would be a start. Then being able to train my birds and prep them for comp.Seems like flying rollers here in my area is not easy. When i'm not dealing with huge losses from falcons ,i'm dealing with a lot of harrassment from the Red Tails !! All in all just a very tough situation!

My goals for 2008 are:

1st
To find the best pairs that produce the most % of quality birds and to minimize it to only a few pairs. Start my family of birds from there on.

2nd
Have a nice kit to be able to compete and enjoy my birds.

3rd
Make some new cages for the kit birds.

WE NEED TO SET SOME GOALS FOR OUR SELVES FOR SELF MOTIVATION AND INPROVEMENT. WE AS FLYERS AND BREEDERS SHOULD BE IN A CONSTANT MODE OF UPGRADING OUR BREEDING STOCK AND FLYING KITS. BY SETTING GOALS WE ARE ABLE TO GUAGE OR SUCCESS OR LACK OF.

I am on the other end of the rope than most of you guys, being new to the kit flying, so I'm sticking with improving me and my management skills first! If I don't know what I'm looking at and know that I am getting peak performance from what I already have, how will I know where the base line for my birds is?

Its my birthday and I've been knocking back a few,not sure that what I'm saying is making sense! LOL

Might rewrite this in the morning! He,he,he

Val, I thought I had good birds when I first started. The I went to a club fly at the ICRC and saw Keith and Juan Navarro and the rest of their club birds and I said to myself ,I don't have birds like these and I got some that day and went home and killed all that I had before that and it has been only getting better everyday. Happy B-day Val.

Joe - couldn't agree with you more. That's why when my brother and I got back into the hobby late last year we called our old friend Keith and stocked up on his finest. He's put alot of work into them and we benifited from it. Not only did he give us a few top pairs but he is always advising us on how to put them down, what is wrong with them when they are sick or acting up, giving us his special medication that usually knocks out whatever infection they have. What can I say, he's a great friend to us and we see him as family.

Thanks for everything Keith!

Just took care of one of them. I compressed my three kits into two and the remaining 7-8 will be finding a new home soon. Now I have a number for next season. Gonna be smooth and easy.

The thing about this is I have to find my 7-8 worst birds versus finding the best ones, which is much harder to do.
Gonna be two families straight up no chaser, six rounds each pair. 4 months tops. Should be done by end of April.

Qualify for at least one final this year.

Joe E., I know there are several with the same family of birds that I have and are having success! I will blame myself and not get discourage with them yet! I have a 5 yr plan and am going to stick with it! I believe that I would be slapping the original breeder in the face, by blaming his birds for my lack of success! He usually wins his tough region and places well in the W/C! I'm thinking that my management skills are where the problem lies! LOL I did learn some things about them this past year and feel confident that I will move forward this year! If I sounded discouraged in my previous post, its just that this is such a slow process at my level, especially for us that have only this forum to learn from.
