Feed keeps going up here in Georgia too. The farmers around here have experienced drought all year, if they don't have irrigation they can't produce a crop. Early on some had to irrigate to have enough moisture to germinate the seed. Out in the grain belt I believe they experienced too much water. If we don't get some serious rain we are going to be in trouble again in 08. I'm sure you know the cost to irrigate pushes the price up and fuel cost keep rising so harvest and all the various costs to market it goes up as well. I can tell you the guys in the fields aren't getting rich.
One of the oldtimers in the barber shop said the other day, "I used to pray, Lord! send me a rain, now I pray, Lord! send somebody a rain." I think that puts it pretty well!

where did you buy that at? What type of feed did you get? I always got mine from Keith at $13-$14, now I get it at this pet store in Lennox or to the Pomona feed store.

I hear ya Snake! The other day I saw one of the old farmers from around here in the convienant store buying a lottery ticket. I asked him what he would do if he won a million dollers, he said that he would probably just keep on farming until it was all gone!

When ever I go to the feed store, if the price of individual grains are a bit pricey, I opt for a local mix for the time being. I usually get the no corn mix for 13 bucks. The corn goes for 11.

Otherwise, need not to complain and just keep the best and cull the rest. Saves a ton on feed money... money will spent for fishing trips :)

I agree with Thor,on the last half of his post. You can easily cut the frequency of going to the feed store by culling and keeping the best.Any birds that lack strength in the hand need to be watched to be potential candidates.Any bad actors go,the garbage comes twice a week here in Hawaii...Aloha,Todd

It's that darn growing corn for bio fuel in cars that's making the price of grains go crazy.Least that's what I've gathered from the media.Who the hell knows if they're right or lying or what?
