I sit and listen to all the revelations and theories that rollermen claim to be truth . And is so funny. Us humans
are always trying to fix something or make something better. Seeking perfection/purity for example take a bird with a faults and try to make a champion by cultivation that is so funny to me i bet you they also turn silver into gold. Pensom said it best to preserve the roller
keep the best cull the rest not put it in the pet shop con someone into buying it (Low class)Cull cull cull not try to fix cull
I had the priveledge to speak with James Turner(color breeder) he told me it took him 12 years just to breed a bird that spun right and could be called a roller somewhat just because he added a color to breeding one mating he says the samething applies in a birds genetic make up he says everything is still there it just hidden
I believe if you compete or if you just want the best you have to go with a winning family of birds period.
I see people go here there and everywhere getting hundred of birds dont fly anything just breed any thing think about the set back 12 years each bird one breeding thousands of garbage birds on the street bird doing all kind of rolls now.because we tried to fix or make something that is not natural but it is fun i know)
because people didnt take the time to fly and cultivate meaning (to prepare/to improve something by labor or study)so it simple find someone who is a good cultivator a proven winner with spinners and get into his gene pool of birds and start to cultvate
and you are half way there let them do the work and start where they left off dont try re-invent the wheel it out the wheel you will do more damage spend that
money for time he spent $$$$$
let that ego go and you will see! ( open your mind eyes and soul)and you will see roll

As my screen name indicates, I do not wish to waste time trying to learn a family from scratch. That is exactly why I found and bought the best birds I could. I could have paid more, but I doubt I would have any better. Breed hard,cull hard, and keep them pure. Thats my plan and I'm sticking too it!!
