Hey BIG GRIZ PRC1, In my yard to be considered a click pair. The pair goes 5 rounds. 8 out of the 10 young needs to make me smile ear to ear. The other 2 usually become rolldowns, which still made me smile before they crashed and burned. So I beleive 8 out 10 is good for the title of "CLICK". And welcome to the site.

great response flipmode,i can agree with your prospective and the percentage you spoke of, for my self i am trying to understand how a person can only breed a few times from all their pairs and call all of them click pairs, if thats the case then they should be unstoppable at WC and FALLFLY not to mention club competition.

Griz, As your program progresses you percentages will go up. When you are starting out pick the birds that produce rollers. Some will produce stiffs or rd`s or a number of undesirable characteristics. Next season you breed the ones that produced rollers. Pick the ones that produced the highest number of good rollers vs marginal or average. Once you get all of the pairs producing rollers you can tweak your program to breed the ones that are a step above the rest, or have a better kit chemistry. This is where you have to decide what you are going to breed for in your family, because at this point it is now your family with your management skills on display.
The usual progression now is for you to breed the daughters and grand daughters back to the foundation cockbird. Which is the one main cockbird you ended up with at the end of several years of breeding. You also breed sons and grandsons back to the hen. Now you have two pairs of the original line with a large portion of the same genes. This is desirable to the point of condensing the best genes into each bird. Which in turn should produce a higher percentage of quality rollers.
You are adding layers to your program like those on a cake. Each season you put another layer on it. You will eventually start looking for the little things like fly patterns and kit position with in the kit when you are breeding. Good Luck amigo.

BIG GRIZ, I MEASURE MY BIRDS ON AMOUNT FLOWN IN. IF I FLY 6 BIRDS OUT OF A PAIR, 2 HAVE TO BE VERY GOOD, 2 CAN BE GOOD THE OTHER CAN BE AVERAGE AND 1 COULD BE A CULL (I EXPECT MY CULLS TO ROLL RIGHT) BUT I'LL BREED A PAIR TWO SEASONS TO MAKE SURE AND FLY THE YOUNG TWO SEASONS.
