This trait has been poping up in my family more so in 2007 than ever before. In 2002 to 2005 maybe 5 out of 75 pigeons bred showed that "Greasy look" especially under there wings. 8 were bred in 2007. 5 of them are hard colors- 3 were badges, all were air tested. These 5 were stocked.4 hens, 1 cock. The 3 badges were taken by the B.O.P. I observe, study, scrutinize, and commitmented .Man I LOVE MY PIGEONS. Home of the knock-out strain

Richard correct me if i'm wrong.Oil helps the pigeon maintain the quality of the feather(wich could in turn help performance).Your birds have type wich probably plays more of a role..Not to mention you have selected properly!

Richard, I understand that you are no rookie by any means. You been in this hobby for decades. But I have to ask you a question about the birds you just posted. IM sure they are quality stock and go back to some of the most famous birds ever bred. OK, Hear it goes ...lol What's the temperament on those birds like. They look like there on edge, not happy about being photographed at all. I have never seen your birds so I just don't know. By the way, I think there good looking birds and I like it when they come out greasy like that as well. ---------- Ray

Luis! Since 2002 i'v kept it SIMPLE. Air Tested all my pigeons i only pick the fastest performers they don't have to be deep, but the R.P.M'S SHOULD BE THERE.In the family that i'v cultivated, it's about selection. Also since 2002 i remember a quotation from the late great englishman Bob Brown." I don't care whether they're bull eyed, odd eyed, flat headed or long tailed or what, I'm not a show man i just concentrate on the rolling"

Rich the feather style on the wings do contribute to the velocity but the oil glands dont. The oil glands is a special trait or quality that is in the family and will pass down on some birds down the line. R-Luna
