I was so stunned by the young birds finally kitting and rolling I recorded 3 seconds, the birds actually breaked for me as soon as I recorded. The battery died on me after that haha, but yea finally the young 2007 birds are learning to work as a team...
these are some of the survivors of the dog attack.. ---------- Nrhoua (Doua) Xiong 4581 25th ave. sacramento C.A. 95820 http://freewebs.com/parlorrollers
Parlor..good video. They say that when one door closes, another one always opens for the better. Keep up the good work ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul
That day was the best day I have ever seen the young 2007 kit birds do, almost every bird was breaking even though they haven't come in with depth yet. They were really frequent that day, I think the only reason that that could've happened was because there was about 25 flying and now it's only down to 10 or 11 birds.
I'm starting to think the smaller the kit, the more breaks you can get, but who knows... I'm just thinking not implying that I know... ---------- Nrhoua (Doua) Xiong 4581 25th ave. sacramento C.A. 95820 http://freewebs.com/parlorrollers
Can't tell much from the video but I call that water falling. Water falling is all I get from my young birds after 5 months old. It seems like once they learn how to roll with some depth, the roll controls them. I think this has more to do with the growing up stage then being mentally weak or both. Also their body structure is still changing... some matures faster than others. You'll get those that never learn how to control the roll - such would be culls.
I like it when the birds are just about to reach two months of flying together and all are but over the tail riding stage. This is when I get to see some young birds trying to break. Just before they try these breaks, there is a slight but noticeable separation amongst all the birds. Each will go off into their own direction and just as instant as they separate, all would do some sort of flip, tumble or twizzle. Brings tears to your eyes some times of what could be a future full turn ;)
I'm pretty sure you have seen this clip of my young birds. But I'll show you again. This is a footage of some young birds in their prime water falling. Very fun to watch unless you are those who hate water falling. One month after taking this footage, all most all the birds went flat. I don't know why but this is a common thing in my family. They come into the roll, turn it up and then become stiffs or just merely tumble here and there. Would go stiff for 2 to 3 months and come back better quality wise and stable out. By this time, they are year lings or close to it and the real fun begins as team work kicks in.
hey there thor just wondering how old those youngsters on top of that holding pen are and have you taken them away from there parents already .cheers trev
Most of the youngsters there were just moved to the ground. There were three there that were all ready on the ground and ready for the kit box. I would say the age ranged from 23 days to 28 days old. I usually start letting them see their surroundings the same day I move them to the ground. The young birds stay on the ground until I notice they are able to pick up the grains with some ease. Every one does their own thing. What ever works for you. I like them out hanging about as young as possible. (at this age) Letting them see birds taking off, circling in to land and trapping in does wonders for me.
Yes there is a pond but I think the noise you are hearing is simply just the mic picking up white noises. Like the movie 'White Noise'. I used a regular digital camera in video mode and this particular cannon camera has a very sensitive mic. The breeders were a good 15 feet away but you would not have guessed that from the video.
Thanks about the comment but they were just young birds. Some of those have been culled all ready. I hate culling young birds but high flying and non kitters must go.
