How many of you guys have pairs that produce high percentage of youngsters? What family are they from? Just got back from my good friend Joe Espitia's house, he let me have some dewormer to give my birds. Looking over his family of birds which go back to Johnny Smith , Norm Reed and some Higgins, his percentage of young birds that roll is 95 percent, does anyone else have this high of a rate.

Are you talking about birds that just perform to some degree? If so, then that number sounds just about right if not a little low. All tho if you are talking about birds that make it to the final kit box 'A' team than - I'm no where close to 95 %. Any one breeding 95 % or better should be dominating all the flies?

ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT JUST ROLLING OR ROLLING RIGHT? AY THIS POINT 90% OR HIGHER ROLLS BUT 70% ROLL IN THE HIGHER DEGREES OF PERFORMANCE.

It all depends on the standard of bird the flyer wants to put in his A team. At the moment if 40% of my young make it to my main kit ill be a very happy man. ---------- Regards W@yne UK

I breed out 12 pairs 7001 line,1220 line,183 line,255 line,6053 line, and some 3626x2581 line. I breed 8 youngsters out of each pair and 4 0r 6 of them will spin nice the other 2 will lock and come down. Now trying to get them rolling as a team that's a different story.

Hey Dale,
95% roll? or 95% performers? A roller that rolls is not hard to come by, a roller that is a top performer, is much harder to get. In my opinion a top performer is a roller that has style, speed, frequency and dept (15-40'), kits and works with the kit. Now if your buddy is getting this type of rollers then I agree with Thor, he should be dominating all comps.
I haven't had my birds long enough to judge what percentages are top performers as I keep losing them once they start working towards being a top performer. Had a few that in my eyes fit this description so I'm going to try to push more of these for this season. Now as far as rollers that roll, then I would say 100% as every bird I bred this year rolled and if I would get some that didn't roll, they would be gone along with the parents.
Just my thoughts...
