What is better, pearl eyes or pure black eyes. Do these mean anything?

Thanks,

Andrew

Might depend on the family of birds you are breeding from.
Some say just as long as the bird has two eyes and can see, thats good enough for me. I will breed from any color eyed bird if produces the goods.

Hello Kopesta, can you see the eye when the bird is spinning? :)

Where I am at in the game, color is less important to me, but expression, vigor in the eye screams out to me. We'll see what I think next week.

Probably just more "tailflex BULL$%(@" or those cheese fries I had the other day. LOL

Kopesta, what im getting at is that, you wont be able to see the eye while the bird is in flight. to me they dont matter.

I'm with both you guys on this one Ray and Rod. If it produces it doesn't matter and you can't see the eyes when they spin. Kopetsa the only time eye color or texture comes into play is in the show pen. I thought we were breeding these birds for preformance not the show pen. If the bird does it right in the air and has all the show qualities as well then that's great. I believe it should be preformance first.

If you are a show guy then the eye would be more important. So do you raise show rollers or birmingham rollers just for show? I think that most guys on this site are more into performance first then they do show birds also.

I raise Birminghams just for show. Up here in Canada i'm not sure if there even are any roller clubs or competitions around. I am not able to fly any right now due to the great number of hawks and ravens. I breed mostly for colours and for show. :)

on the EYE .. put the eye in the sun then quickly into the shade...look at the pupil reaction if it closes fast i like the eye ... but if the pupil is to slow to close i see weakness. ..even a rolldown ...my view... *sidLOVe *
