i have a two month yb rolldown at a extremely deep depth (around 1-2 telephone poles??). how deep would a telephone pole be? 80 ft? it just came into the roll. i am currently resting it. is it too early for it to be culled or would you guys keep on flying it? it's nestmate seems to be doing fine coming into the roll.-joe

The average electric poles around here (Oklahoma) that we set are 35 to 45 ft tall! But 5 to 6 ft go in the ground! Above ground hight is usually 30 to 40 ft! ---------- Val

you can do with it what you want, You raisd it but chances are if you put it back in the air it wont make it another month. That being said I wouldnt condem the pair for one roll down. I have always believed that if you dont get an occasional rolldown then you dont have enough roll in your birds. Now if you continue to get roll downs then split the pair up but dont blame it on just the cock or just the hen until you prove that they throw rolldowns on other birds. Sometimes getting birds to produce roll is half the battle. Try to harness it provided it isnt going to be a loosing batte ( if you know what I mean ). J.M.Urbon Lofts is right. Its not natural for a bird to spin so you always want to breed towards the roll. This is a good problem to have in your family of birds. This bird I bet just came in to early and the physical just could not keep up with the mental part of the bird. Rest the bird and it might do well after some time off and having a chance to put some weight on. Make sure this bird gets fed well. Sometimes, thats the only problem with the bird. It could be worse. You could be asking why the bird has not started spinning after one year in the air.......lol ---------- Ray

It does not matter who they came from we all make culls!...Smile! I would keep breeding the pair unless they produce more lawn darts!
P.S cull it! ---------- Sal Ortiz

Sorry, I shouldn't have been so short... Just because that bird is a cull, it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with either of the parents.. Genetics is kind of like rolling dice...or poker. One of the first matings I ever made produced a bird that killed itself the first time it rolled, and another that I consider to be close to a champion which I flew for over 10 years. Gomez

black hawk down that's A tight name..SMILE
man some times this happends in breeding good pairs so we think? the squeakers that come in to a roll early in like 60 day's most of the time they won't last to be a good kit bird or breeder. one things for sure BHD you got roll my man.. so measure your creations.feeding them more to balance there roll when these birds have a mixture of blood strains that you created or have purchased down the line at one time.BHD that pair only throw out ress reds that's rolldowns shoud be cull/fosters and the blue series (blue checker/blue bars) don't reck and have better contral. sounds like keeping the (blue series) is the heat control you know what i mean bro .. time and patients.... don't cull the reds try fostering them first.good luck BLACK HAWK DOWN...

I have a pair of black selfs that I put together on a whim late last summer. I raised six yougsters from them. The first two were rolldowns.....and I was thinking, just as you guys are; separate the parents. Then in the second round, one is stiff and the other is very fast 25-30 footer....if it remains stable. The third round is just being trained. I guess they'll tell the tale. I usually don't keep these hot pairs together, but if they throw 25% to 50% good birds, would you accept the high number of rolldowns until the others are flown out for two years to determine their stability? Roll n 4 ever I have a quick question? the pair that produces the 300 footers, is that pair crossed or both birds out of the same family.

Hey Black Hawk Down feed him up, rest him up and give him another shot! Cull him if he shows no improvement. Breed that pair 4 more rounds before you separate them. Where there's SMOKE there's FIRE! The next babies might be champions!
