It all depends on the family of birds you have and how you fly them.
I like mine to start spinning at 3months (5-10') AND CONTINUE developing through the second. This is when you'll see the finished product. good or bad

Wow - seems all who responded want a bird rolling well by the time it's 6 months old. I believe Pensom said a bird shold be rolling(spinning)within a year.
What is the impact of time to come into roll to longevity, ie. for how many years will a bird continue spinning and excellently and with the utmost style and speed to a qucik development of the spin.
I beleive if a bird comes into the roll too strongly, it can have a negative impact on that bird developing into a top shelf bird. The bird may get scared, try to fight the roll, roll down, etc. if the roll impulse comes on too strong before the birds physical maturity can handle it.

PS. I prefer a bird that comes into the roll at 4-6 months and is SPINNING with inconceivable velocity within 1 year.

I would like to see them start flipping at 3-4 months. I would like to see rolling by the time I need to lock down for the Winter. That gives them about 6 months. In a perfect world we would not have to lock down. Then It would not matter so much.

KOPETSA.......I would say that youngsters start to tail ride first then, roll anywhere from 3mo to 8mo.. At least thats what I've experienced with different types of performance birds. ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul
