what do you think is the right size kit box? Do you leave them in there year around? The reason I ask is that it gets pretty cold here in winter. Could you keep all together in one loft and then kit them in March?

There's a lot of different kit box sizes i have seen but remember when building the box don't do the box too deep make the box so you can reach into it and pick the birds out of the box easily when need to do so. ---------- Regards W@yne UK

One thing you need to remember, what hurts a pigeon the most is leaving it in damp conditions or just in a place where they are living and eating in there own feces. Pigeons can withstand extreme heat and extreme cold conditions. You will see them on a hot day in Palm Springs enjoying the day at 120 degrees or in Alaska eating at MC Donald's in the snow. This is a box I designed so that I could keep my birds healthy while I rested them for months at a time. (YOU MUST MAKE SURE THERE LIVING CONDITIONS STAY DRY AND THAT THEY ARE WELL VENTILATED). I use the feed trays to feed them and hose them down afterwards so that they always have a clean plate to eat from. I clean there automatic waterers once a week. Right now, they are fat and happy living together. They enjoy each others company...lol

Yes, There is wire bottoms with 3" trays underneath, a total of 7" to catch the droppings. I only put the other trays in when I feed them. Then pull them out when there done. Keeps everything nice and clean inside. ---------- Ray

Ray, Sorry the reason I keep buggin you is because I have dail-up because I'm out a ways and can only get a picture. I guess what I'm trying to say is the wind can't blow up from underneath because you have a pan there. Right? Thanks for all the help. I'm working on kit boxes as I have a few Ruby's and I'm waiting on some fireballs. Ron

Here we go.......... This does not show the feed trays I feed the birds with, but it will give you a idea of the size of the boxes.
