Do you religiously make out a fly log every time you fly your kits?
Date Time weather : rain/shine Temp Barometric pressure wind conditions notes on kit notes on specific bird
is there other info you enter?
I've been doing something similar to the above for years when hunting and fishing. My notes have come in handy when conditions are similar, fish and game in same locations where I found them before and react the same.

I know what you mean Ray....I just like to be able to avoid a situation if a certain weather pattern has whipped me before or to take advantedge of a certain pattern if I had a good fly in those conditions before.
Trying to work the whole system, new as I am, when I think I've got everything written down I hear about something else.
I just heard about soaking the feed before feeding!
I hadn't even thought of that. ---------- "Semper Fi" SD

Thats a new one to me as well. Sounds like it could get moldy and cause you problems down the road. ---------- Ray

The way he talked he soaked it right before he'd feed, didn't have time to mold. Also said he feed each bird in individual stalls and said he kept the birds in isolation from eachother and where they could not see the sky for 3 days before a fly????????? You think this is for real or jerkin a newbie around?? ---------- "Semper Fi" SD

Sounds a little too complicated to me. I try to keep it simple. Less work, more time to enjoy the birds and other things, like Family......lol ---------- Ray

Yes - I keep a log on kitting (habits etc), time frame it took the bird to come into the roll, velocity, style, depth, frequency and additional comments. Nothing fancy just in a notebook

I have kept a fly log in the past. I should probably still be doing it.
Feed should also be noted. Use your notes to figure out what works for you and your kit to set up for a fly. BOP attacks should be recorded. It would be good to have a record of how your birds react to an attack. Some birds will continue to kit and roll after a bird is taken from the kit, where others will not fly good again for a week after an attack.

Keeping some kind of record on your birds is a smart thing.Minds can be forgetful and important data could be lost! It's nice to look back and say man this bird had it right from the get go!!
