Kevin,
Not bad!!!!!! That was a long time ago. I still had hair....LOL.
I think the guy you are calling Shaun is Jeremy. And you missed Juan.

La Ron,
With all due respect I would hope that you change your mind on what you call this event.
I think it is apparent the WCS has been holding there own series of events here in So Cal for many years now. And the article from the NBRC shows we have also had single bird competitions in the past. I plan on bringing them back into our club in the near future.

Ray - No problem although when I came up with the name it was signifying the west coast of the United States and a spinner series suggesting a continuous yearly event. The name is irrelevant but the concept is what is important. This is the main reason why I stay to myself and do not get involved. Though this is insignificant something always comes up politically etc. I will lay the ground work as promised and continue with our PRC individual bird fly’s. Keith, let me know what you want to call this event and I will work with you and whomever else to get this going. So, right now I am calling it “Laissez les bon temps roulette” until someone comes up with another name.

La Ron,
Thank you!!!!!
If I can help in any way, please let me know.
Let me give just a small example of how I can help.

"THE WEST COAST SPINOFF"

Do you think you have what it takes to earn the title of best individual spinner here on the west coast in 2008 ? If you do then this prestigious event is just for you. This will be our first year holding this annual event and we would like to invite you to fly with us this year. Etc, etc, etc.

Creative meets Engineer.
I know this is not your first encounter ......lol

Hi,
To answer your original question the answer is yes, a big difference. A roller has to roll, and a comp tumbler has to turnover twice. Some will roll I am told, but would not be considered ideal competiton tumblers.
A kit of comp bages would struggle to score in BR club competitions, and the judge and anyone else there would soon tell them they need different birds!. I say struggle to score, because we do have kitting points and if it was a bad day with no breaks being scored, then the bages might win on kitting points, but there would be one hell of a stink over it.lol
I would not put competition bages down however.
They are a seperate breed from the same origins and the guys take their sport just as seriously as we do, and while a good kit of rollers may be superior in our eyes, I can see the draw of flying tumblers.
Birds that kit like glue and all tumble together are an entertaining sight.
Pete.

hi all
paul what you all have to understand in pensoms day the comps were held by what we call competition tumblers not rollers.as far as im aware there was no such thing as roller comps as we call it today.they still have the comps with the tumblers today but only in the midlands.most of us have never seen a kit of comp tumblers.even today we have what most of us call good comp birds teams that break massive but lack that real quality.and are only about 10 to 15 ft and not very tight .but the majority of us fly birds that roll very fast + with a depth of say 20 to 30 ft on average.with a few who fly birds a little deeper still
the old timers that flew those comps in pensoms day were flying what are called badges or mags.they do break very big but are very very short.no more than glorified tumblers.though im led to believe that a good kit can look awsome.but i have never seen them.

John I have seen the badges fly lots of breaks but you are right most are short. There is a local guy that raises them and he culls anything deeper then 10'
