I know I am very much a novice in the sport/hobby but just out of curiosity, HOW COMPETITIVE ARE YOU or WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE THE MOST COMPETITIVE and WHEN YOU KNOW HOW COMPETITIVE YOU ARE, CAN YOU STILL FIND FAULTS IN WHAT YOU DID OR HAVE DONE/WHY CAN'T YOU NOT? Let's Self-evaluate. Comments are welcomed.

I am as cometitive as time and Family allow me to be. I had been very competitive until this year when time hasnt allowed me to be.I still have the drive and the desire to compete but for know I will have to settle for occasionally being able to attend a fly or two and help my son out with the birds when I am home. Competitive would mean you compete.. I think many consider themselves competitive, but never compete.. I guess the question should really be, do you compete in every competition that you can? If Not, If you make up dumb excuses not to fly,, like I breed for the true Birmingham roller not competition rollers. Well, then your not competitive!!! Well, maybe in your own mind. There you can be a Legend of the Birmingham roller and who can argue?? So, do you compete to be competitive? Or just talk about and think about being competitive? They are two completely different worlds. Of that you can be sure!! KGB

I think that this message would be for the true competitor, you know the one that would put in there money and fly a kit with a club that gets better and better with the guy who knows that they got this guy beat this time is worrying about the next fly. Later on becoming the best in the club or in the nose to nose race for the finish line. When you become this competitor what can you as an individual become exceedingly greater and be true to yourself that you are great and has gone the distance. Honestly I want to have this feeling one day. People talk the talk but can they really walk the talk by opening up there boxes of lucky charms. What would you do to be and beat the best. this is the real competitive EDGE!

I think when money comes into this game the hobby at competition level is doomed,
Don't let this hobby get like the racing hobby.
When money changes hands you will always get cheats and people taking backhanders and bribes think again about this guys JMHO.

Illegal betting is illegal when you get caught in those states. LOL...... The money thing is just the joining of the club your getting yourself into. The Competitive edge is for the one who wants their name on the plaque at the end of a season of a fly or a special event that a flier has earned with a bird or team that has gotten people starring in the air and looking at you with eyes the size of saucers as if they have seen a UFO. IT's kinda funny because now that I think of it you can gamble on the internet and we are raising thorough breds in are very own backyards. There are no limits in the sky only in are vision......

My own thoughts on being competitive are you should be your own hardest competitor,in the breeding loft, when flying you should be totally ruthless in selection of both,if you wish to pursue and hopefully achieve quality rollers/spinners,in comp/flys in my own opinion too much emphasis is placed on kit breaks and not enough on quality,a good lead bird working well makes a kit look good, regarding amount of breaks,it doesnt have to be a quality roller, just consistent in working at the front of kit,and knocking them over, many of these breaks in kits consist of a small number of decent rollers, which takes your eye and also in lots of cases the judges eye, while the majority are just reacting to lead bird and going through motions with varying degrees of movement with very little or no quality, also in a comp/fly you have got one shot at it on the day and unless all those imponderables, bad weather, hawks, and so many more are absent no matter how good your kit is,you may be one of the also rans on that day.

I'm competitive, but refuse to fly just for the sake of flying. When i have a kit that does what it's suppossed to do i'll compete.Until then i will keep breeding and learning.Only been in for 1 year so GOD willing i have time.

I compete for the learning acquired through it. Do I want to win every fly, ? You betcha I do. Is it so I can say I beat so and so ? Nope. I`m just trying to beat my best score so far. Lucky for me, I havent set that bar too high....yet! But when I do I`m still gonna try to better it. When I`m sucessful with something, its for me. I really dont care about impressing everyone else. I am my own worst critic and no one pushes me harder than myself.

Man, that sounds messed up....I AM MOST COMPETITIVE WITH MYSELF...

Sundance it makes sense to me,you know what you want,go for it,all the while, its yourself you got to impress, anything else is too fleeting and superficial.
