Okay,I realize most of us have wire floors in our kitboxes and maybe the breeding pens too, reguardless. WHAT do you guys do with all the dropings when you clean house?? I was considering using them in my ORGANIC Compost pile. Has anyone ever attempetd to do this. I know it can be great fertilizer. I use my chicken dropings too. Whats your ideas?? It would be ashame to waste such a good product. IAM THINKING SPRING.........LOL

I've heard guys say that is it too hot the first year, but if you let it breakdown for two years, that it is just right and makes great fertilizer!
Kelly (Santandercol) would be a good one to talk to on this subject! Maybe he will chime in! ---------- Val

Rudy,
I threw it on my garden, then tilled it in. Seems to work fine here.

The white stuff on top of chicken poop is still chicken poop! Lol
The only thing you have to watch with either chicken or pigeon poop is it is high is salt, I compost it, use it for side dressing all the vegetables and after at least a year use it in the worm beds put you got to be careful with it, it will burn the roots if not aged! ---------- "Semper Fi" SD

Oh yeah!!My garden does incredible on the shit. We're still eating tomatoes outta the freezer from 8 plants in the greenhouse last summer.I have 3 of those round black plastic composters as they are the easiest to keep vermin out of and they work in about 6 months depending on the temperature in your area.Layer the stuff in there starting with heavier stalky stuff from your garden then some leafy green stuff or just the trimmings(no meat)from your kitchen. The secret there is EAT LOTS OF VEGETABLES (RUDY!!) so you have lots of trimmings. Then add a layer of birdshit and then green stuff then more BS.You may need to layer in a bit of topsoil or peat if there isnt much sawdust with the poop or if it is really wet for some reason. In summer if it's real dry you may need to add some water.Use a strong stick to poke holes right down in it as it fills and you'll see how it settles the holes let air in.In the warmer parts of summer it works fast so after 3-4 months you can spread it out on the garden.Yeah,leterrip.Good stuff! ---------- Kel.
