ONE THING WE ALL HAVE TO COME TO GRIPS WITH IS THAT WE WILL NOT HAVE PIGEONS FOREVER BECUSE THE REALITY IS ONE OR TOO THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN, EITHER WERE GOING TO GET BOARED WITH THEM AND GET RID OF THEM ALL OR WERE GOING TO DIE AND THATS JUST A PART OF LIFE,SO WHEN IT'S ALL OVER WHAT DO WANT YOUR GREATEST CONTRIBUTION TO THE HOBBY TO BE?

Broadwayster - I am surprised not many people responded.
He wanted others to have the same level of quality that he had or better, He was unselfish and he did not boast. He would explain, guide, and help the newbie. He stuck to his beliefs. He did not put others down as some do without ever knowing the person, ever visiting the person and relying on hearsay. He only spoke on what he had knowledge about and would honestly admit when he did not know or understand something because no one knows everything. He knew that there were many people who received birds from Bill Pensom or his followers, many were excellent breeders, and no one had a monopoly on spin, style, and great phenotype. He loved the creator more than he loved the creature (birds) and put this first in his life.

Im not suprised either becuse not many people want to deal with the fact that we will not do this forever and most of us dont like to deal with the fact that history has shown us that people are remembered for either the good you did or the bad ,to this day i know alot of roller people that have the worst reputation becuse of there attitude,the way they conduct thereselves,or even the trouble the cause when they come around,to make it simple they bring nothing positive to the hobby,i personaly know a person that should be in the NBRC hall of fame ,who's line of birds that most of have in our lofts will never get in there becuse every thing the've done has only been for there own profit not to help the greater grow,so no matter what they do ,no matter what they win or who wins with there birds the other side will allways come to the forefront,jesus chist said what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul,i say what doe's it matter to win it all and the negative is what they remember you for!!!!!!!

3757 I agree with you my bro. What good is it if you win all the competitions but you created enemies and become a prick. The hobby is all about building each other up in the sport,gaining friends,and distribute the knowledge that we gain.3757 you are absolute right, why gain the whole world,if you lose your soul.

This is such a classic question and one that kind of makes me laugh a little. For myself, I really do not care if anybody remembers me because I enjoyed flying birds in my back yard. What's most important to me is the impact I have on my Family and close Friends. IM not saying that I do not have any close friends in this hobby but the relationships I have made over the years outside the hobby still do not care to see a kit of pigeons......lol. But these are the people that I care the most about and it does not matter to me if they liked the birds or not. All my Family & best Friends called me bird when I was a kid and I still know many of these friends today. Many from kindergarden and up. There more interested about the birds now then when I was a kid but still (They Don't Get It) Thats OK. IM not trying to make them enjoy my hobby, thats just what I enjoy. I do not care if I ever end up in the hall of fame and to think I even had a chance is even funnier. I will back the guy that had a impact on the hobby and did not care if he got to the hall of fame........lol, because If its who IM thinking of He does not care if he ends up there but will always be remembered regardless of whether his name is in print or not due to the impact he has had on this hobby. If your a good roller-man you will be remembered for it whether people thought you where a good influence or not. I enjoy my birds and I think this is the most important thing whether IM remembered for it or not. If you enjoy what you do does it really matter what you where remembered for as long as you have a impact on the people you love ? When your gone, trust me, your not going to care about the impact you had on this hobby either, just enjoy what you do. life is short so do not forget to tell the ones you love that there more important to you then your hobbies or anything else that you might do in your lifetime. Oh yea, and when IM gone, my old Family and Friends will still call me bird....lol, and thats good enough for me.

It is hard to live down a bad reputation, I can't change the past, all I can do is try to finish well.

I just don't want to ruin my bad reputation! LOL This topic makes us all think. If you want to be found a good friend, faithful and one who tells the truth! Have you ever counted the cost? Being loyal to ones friends comes with a price!!! If you have ever had a good friend or been one, You know this is a fact!
Telling Men the TRUTH will not win you any popularity contest believe me!!, What most really want to hear is a HALF TRUTH that makes them feel good! Even if it is dead wrong!! God is always providing opportunities for you to advance in life. It's His desire that you constantly learn and grow. Have you ever been afraid to step out and take an opportunity set before you because you aren't sure it's the right thing to do? Has your life become stagnant and mediocre because you're afraid to try new things? In order to experience the abundant life God has in store for you, you have to begin moving forward and exploring the open doors in your path.
The enemy will try anything to keep you living in mediocrity. He knows that once you start moving forward, God will be able to lead you in His perfect will. Sometimes you may come to some closed doors before you find the open doors, but as you keep moving, you'll be one step closer to fulfilling God's plan of victory for your life. How can anyone stand still in the Hobby/Sport if they are breeding for the ultimate in performance? Unless of course one is so bold to think they have reached the point of breeding all champions!!! I guess mongrelizing the breed for color is not standing still for sure! I guess I just don't want to be remembered for moving the breed in the USA backwards! I agree with you Todd. Lets not stand still and most of all, lets not move backwards!! Not standing still means breeding more and more of the best spinners one has ever seen or bred!! JMHO KGB

I have to agree Kenny; NO one wants to hear the truth they all want to hear a good lie. As for me I will fly birds till I die or in till the BOP’s grow in numbers that I cant even open my kit box door any more LOL. Look at Pensom, Plona, they flue their birds till they died, why cant I. It isn’t over tell the fat lady sings, at lest for me.

I want to be remember by not just a good guy and what he's done for the pigeon,...but what the pigeon has done for me,, It pure therapy for me when I feel stress from life experiences they calms me down ,free my soul.the pigeon has done a lot for me. I truly love it..
