Hi Guys,
911 Pigeon Alert is an internet based group that assists members of the public who have found pigeons or doves in getting those birds back home.
We started in approx July of 2005 and have done almost 7,000 birds since then. I've posted some of the statistics here on Roller-Talk in the past, and hopefully you will know that we are for real.
A) The easiest way for you to help is to become a resource for us to use by entering your information into our database. This simply means that you are willing to go pick up or meet someone who has a pigeon in your local area (an area that you define). I can't guarantee that you would only be asked to assist a roller .. it might be a racing pigeon, a fancy, or even a feral.
B) The next way you could help would be to join the 911 Pigeon Alert Yahoogroups list and just watch the posts. If you see us getting into trouble with a Roller, and if you think you can help by providing a contact for the club or owner, then do so.
C) The way we most need help is for a couple of you Roller folks to actually become Moderators on 911 Pigeon Alert. You would be trained by a male member of our group and would then monitor messages coming through and be taking and handling some of those messages. This is a simplified view of this .. there is actually a very nice little database application on-line that we use, but the bottom line is .. you would see all the birds coming through and would be able to directly handle any that you felt you could or should.
For any of the options, you would need to join the 911 Pigeon Alert group at: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/911PigeonAlert/
After you have joined (and I would suggest that you select Digest for the messages at least at first .. we generate a lot of messages), then ..
For Option A: go into the Database area and enter your information
For Option B: Just read the posts and respond if you can help
For Option C: Privately e-mail me at TAWhatley@sbcglobal.net, and I will put you in touch with our 911 trainer. His name is Steve and he breeds racers and rare colored pigeons.
I truly would appreciate some help from you all!
Thank you!

Hi Kel,
There isn't a Canadian "branch" of 911 Pigeon Alert. Since it is all internet based it is easy for people from just about anywhere to participate. We do get a lot of Canadian Racing Pigeon Union birds reported to us from all over Canada and the states that border on Canada.
