Hey Sid, quoting scripture to a self-proclaimed atheist is to merely poke em' in the eye. It doesn't move the conversation forward.

Persuasive logic and reasoning are helpful God-given tools to pull out of the tool bag. Even the apostle Paul used logic and reason in the marketplace in an attempt to preach Christ.

Just a thought...

Richard,
I appreciate your efforts at explaining your beleifs, but mine are so different from yours in respect to religions. If I am doomed to live with the devil in the end, hopefully he'll allow me to indulge in some of his goodies,eh!?Either way,I came from the earth and that is where I'll finish off.I don't see anything wrong with that beleif.

For some people it is a religion for other people it is a life style.

They say that we are all gods children. Jesus was an educated man who took opportunity of the situation.

But remember the past so that you don't make the same mistakes in the future.

Kel;
An evolutionist challenged a creationist to a debate once and the creationist accepted on one condition; (ie) "I will bring 100 people to tell what Christ has done for them and you bring 100 people to tell what evolution has done for them!" The evolutionist backed down! Al

Evolution

All I know is that I'm no monkey, my wife is not a monkey, nor are my children.
My father was no monkey, My mother was not a monkey.
My grandfather was no monkey, my grandmother was no monkey...
You may consider yourself an offspring of some distant ape; however, I am not nor are mine any relative there of.

I don't think this is a good place to discuss it; however, whenever I hear of evolution it makes me sick.

Guys,

let's leave religion off the public list and show each other the love that comes from whatever faith we follow. Then, when our actions and words stand out, the truth will become evidence for our faith and we can discuss the truth that set us free with each other in the proper forum.

I certainly have my own personal faith but have found that it is more effective to live it in public and speak it in private.

Just my opinion.

When the pope came to the subject of the scientific merits of evolution, it soon became clear how much things had changed in the nearly fifty years since the Vatican last addressed the issue. John Paul said:

Today, almost half a century after publication of the encyclical, new knowledge has led to the recognition of the theory of evolution as more than a hypothesis. It is indeed remarkable that this theory has been progressively accepted by researchers, following a series of discoveries in various fields of knowledge. The convergence, neither sought nor fabricated, of the results of work that was conducted independently is in itself a significant argument in favor of the theory.

Evolution, a doctrine that Pius XII only acknowledged as an unfortunate possibility, John Paul accepts forty-six years later “as an effectively proven fact.”
---------------------*********------------------------
The way I see it, the Pope probably had more to lose than anyone in coming out with this statement. But he said that truth cannot conflict with truth...
I think the real problem is that a lot of people think of the Bible as God....
Paul

Tony, well said. I also believe that there is a GOD and without the forgiveness of sins thru the shedding of blood through Jesus Christ there would be no life eternal. It's
a free gift all you have to do is accept it with faith.

Kel i would like to answer your question being that you directed it to me and it will be my last post on the subject.

According to the word of GOD,after witnessing many incredible events at the hands of Moses and eventually freedom. How soon did the Isrealites turn their backs on Moses and GOD?We are only human and easily misled and attacked(specially spiritually). We must enforce our spirit with GODS word everyday and walk with him...easier said than done!WE are put to the test constantly. That is why i'm thankful for a merciful GOD that loves me . It's also very easy to claim you're a follower of GOD and commit atrocities in his name.Something that has happened throughout history and continues to happen.Yet again GOD says you can recognize each tree by the fruit it yields and i believe it!I also believe he changes lives for the better.Imagine how different the world would be if we all followed his way!

In regards to why suffering is allowed...why not?Jesus suffered. What makes us so special that we should not!

Sat Roller,
That's a pretty narrow view of evolution.Who ever said you were a monkey?Too bad you have such a disrespectful view of primates. What about Neanderthal Man and scientific evidence surrounding his previous existence?Do you beleive humans just appeared one day on earth?I guess man first had blond hair and blue eyes as well.Seems like god could be a magician,eh?

Sorry about the double post on my narrow view as I could not find it this morning as I was unaware of the 2 pages on this thread. (Tony thank you for letting me know, I got your phone message as well.)

I don't believe that God is a magician, magicians want you to think they can do things that are not possible. God is no magician, all things are possible with God.

I have my belief and my faith, each one of you have yours, you will not convince otherwise.

God commanded the animals into the Ark ...Noah;s job was to obey God for he had Favor .
God also commanded the sea to open for Moses to liberate the slaves.
God did not send his Son to judge the world guilty. God sent his Son so that the world could be saved through his Son.

The Universe was not created by a warm pool of water with chemicals. nor was a boeing 747 created by a tornado going over a junkard. LOL

Its human nature to twist things. The enemy is out to lie , kill and destroy.
Satan is roaming the earth like a lion ready to see who he can devour..

Jesus Christ is our good shepherd
The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand. My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all [else]; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father’s hand. - John 10:27-30

It still doesnt explain anything, god commanded them ,there is no logical nor scientific way to say that a few people were able to feed and care 4 millions of animals for 40 days do you understand what just a few animals eat in 40 days there are billions of species of bugs reptiles as well as mammals it would take many lifetimes to collect a pair of every one let a lone a viable breeding pair just losing male or female of a species would wipe them out
A boat large enough to carry all the supplies to feed theses animals would be many times larger than the modern ocean liners it would take hay for the ruminants fresh meat for the carnivores as well as so much fruit grass and other vegetables for the hebivores it is totally unfathonable
Many people act as though by saying god commanded it that it is a good explanation for an action but to me that is as bad as saying the devil made me do it NO YOUR JUST A REAL PEICE OF WORK a persons actions are to be held accountable by them no one else by saying god or the devil made anything happen is the easy road to not having an explanation your beleifs are fine if you beleive your soul goes somewhere that is fine I find that to be something for people to beleive when faced with the possibility of death to beleive in everlasting life calms them and that is all very fine and well as for myself I find it peculiar until it can be explained Ill just waste away and become some fertilizer
please excuse any bad spelling

Hounds and Kel;
Explanations are too lengthy to go into here> Just a couple of thingss to think about. The ark was longer (if I remember correctly) than a football field and (I think) about 3 stories high. I have the info around here somewhere if you need exact dimensions. God's command was to bring two of every kind and 7 of a few more kinds. That didn't mean every tiger, lion, leopard etc. It meant of the cat family. There was room for all the (kinds) of animals and their feed with room to spare Al

aw im just beatin a dead horse so a 300 ft boat that was 30 foot high can hold one of every family ? not sure. that only furthers the evolution theory if he kept only a pair of tigers than how do we have so many species of feline today without evolution science always makes sense religion is only as good as your imagination also are dinosaurs before adam and eve or after because fossils can and have been carbon dated

Science explains everything

I remember hearing a joke about a Sunday school teacher who was telling her young students about the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. This teacher was more learned than the average Sunday school teacher so she explained that the Moses hadn’t miraculously parted the water to enable the crossing. Rather, the sea was actually very shallow — only a couple of inches or feet deep, in fact. So while God did rescue his people, he didn’t use supernatural means.

“That’s amazing!” said Billy, one of her young charges.

The teacher explained that God was amazing but that this crossing hadn’t been such an amazing feat. In fact, Red Sea was a mistranslation. It was a sea of reeds. A Reed Sea. And so the Israelites only had to cross a very shallow sea.

“Wow! That’s super-amazing!” said Billy.

Exasperated, the teacher asked him what was so amazing about the Israelites traversing the Reed Sea.

“That the entire Egyptian army drowned in a few inches of water!” ..LMAO

Kel can we get to the root of what was bothering you lets go back to your original post on this string.

Instead of making a general statement can you get specific with regards to which posts are talking religion on this site?

I have read through a lot of posts and I can't seem to find any of the instances you are speaking too.

The most previlent distraction to the site to me is obviously this post which in my mind has gone on too long

I think what has caused this to go on as long as it has is not weather some one is an evolutionist or a christian but more so the attitude in which the message was first asked:
"Give us evolutinists a break Jeez..."

Lets deal with facts which posts are you referring to so that everyone knows what needs to be specifically reviewed and addressed.Otherwise this will go on distrating many people on the site. It has become similiar to debateing What came first the the chicken or the egg? If you cannot site any specific posts for resolution then lets end this and get back to pigeon talk.

For the religious individuals on this site God Bless You and for the evolutionist wishing you all the best

You asked whether Adam and Eve were black or white? Probably neither. The conjecture is that they may have been the same color as all their descendants from that area
the middle east. In fact, the word Adam means "red clay".
Subsequent generations spread out to different parts of the globe where climates affected changes in skin tones. Al

As far as a hat goes, since Tony and Joni kindly gave me my first RPDC hat (which I'm still wearing) I've bought three more. One I gave to my Papi in-law and one is in Air Canada's lost n found, the other is in the mail on it's way here to my place along with some new nestbowls. Those plastic nestbowls with the natural fibre pads are the best!!
Regarding the thread with the psalms in it,I can't remember which one it was but it was one where allovasudden outta nowhere Dear Sidlove began quoting stuff outta the Bible. That is when I came up with the thought " Are we here to talk Religion or Rollers??"I had no idea it would go on this long and I do apologise if this thread has offended anyone. That was not the intent.
Yeah, please, cut er off right here.Ya won't frost my huevos, that be for sure!!

Hey All, I think we are done with this thread. Everyone said what they wanted. If you did not make your point by now, it's too late. We all have made choices and have opinions and we let them be known.

I am locking the thread not because anyone has been bad, everyone was actually pretty civil, but just so we don't keep running in circles around each other.

Everyone has made their life choice. If the Christians on this site are wrong, then like the Apostle Paul said, we are to be pitied, however, if we are correct, then we have eternity to celebrate.

Either way, I have led a pretty good life and treated others the way I want to be treated, how bad can that be?

Enough on this topict: at least til next time ;-)
