Hey All, all across the country, cold weather has gripped us (Seymour, MO is 17 degrees F.), what useful tips might you suggest for guys not accustomed to dealing with rollers in such cold weather? ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

As far as I know, there are some people who install heater in their loft to keep the temperature UP, and use heat light/blub (that keeps the baby chicks warm) for the kits. I would close all the big windows and cover the windows/opening with anything that will keep the cold air out and leave a little space for air.

Tony I use to live in Buffalo N.Y. for 16yrs were the temp would get down to -7 degrees with a wind chill of -32degrees.The things I would do is Don't try and breed at this time because the young will die in the nest I would wait until Feb. to put my pairs together.when temp is below freezing I would use water heater with a 40watt bub to keep the water from freezing also I would mix extra corn in the feed to help my birds with body heart.Other than that the brids will do just fine. We have been in the single digits last couple of nights(ohio) Kit birds need a little extra.Increase there feed about 1/3 with either corn or safflower added. As far as water goes they get fresh at the evening feeding, only need to drink once a day.As for breeding that loft is heated to 55F.So no problems there. ---------- Ron Borderline lofts
