These are my early and late 07 birds. They got NO bands because I don't have the time to buy them some. A couples are still in breeding loft, and they will also be flying with these birds too. Not much because I had a very good cock breeder who died last year, so my breeding loft kind of slow down for a while. The 2 red come from the Horner family, and rest are Brain Mccromick which I think originally breed from Reed/Higgins.

csra, sure thing. I don't have that much birds though. I lost more than 15 birds last year, due to BOP. I've got 3 extra hen that I really want to breed, but just don't have the $$ to buy a stock cock yet. Now, I'm trying to just work with the Reed/Higgin family.

Square, those are some nice birds. I like it. I wish I can fly them everyday. My brother used to fly the birds everyday and loose a few a month, so I decided to close my kit for now. I really like your blue bars.

Thanx bros, and the real reason i am able to fly during thease months, boils down to, a 8 bye 8 inch piece of aluminum foil filled with dog food for my Kit of "Ravens". they love me, and if i forget to feed them the let me know,. and my wife also points it out as our dog food dosen't last as long. But i tell you man it is worth it, they are know in my household as "The Country Cuzzins". they are really agressive, launchinq a relentless attack an any thing that is in my air space, any time i let up my rollers they are there as they know now i feed them. my only hope is to have more next year... LOL

I like Raven, they save my birds from harm. I get a lot of crows here. I believe there are about 5 thousands or more crow who live near my area. I don't feed them but they help me sometime.

One question, unless your Club Rules differ from mine... don't the birds need to be banded to fly in competition?

If so, what is the deal with flying unbanded birds... is this even possible?

I'm not flying in the competition yet. I wish. Now is just getting started with my birds. If I see that my kits will do FINE in the sky, I'll breed them and band their youngs. It'll be a waste of my time banding them now since I don't know how good they are going to be. I'm just not sure my birds are going to be the best, but I'm working on it.

Thanks for the clearing that up. It was more of a general public question...

Any who, even if you never flew in the flies, would it not make more sense to band the birds any ways - if just for record keeping purposes only. Like instead of writing Red Grizzle x Red Grizzle. All you had to do was write 153 x 011. It also looks better on paper when you write down their linage.

I bred out of a Un Band hen in '06 - She was bred in '02. She was a late hatch bred by a gentleman who got out of rollers that year. Because he was getting out, plus he ran out of bands that year this bird became a victim of being bandless. Any who, now I have a bird that is stock worthy from her in the air that I may in the future use in the stock pen. I just hate using the term un band in their back ground if I ever did use this son of hers. May just be me tho. It would look like this: '06 MFRG 157 is out of '95 IPB 15756 x Un Band Black Grizzle

I am known to use old bands a lot. I get a lot of ripping from my guys for doing this. Hey, I would rather use or re-use old bands than no bands.

Just me thinking out loud here,
Thor

Nice birds guys ,

Thor I'm with you on that must be banded,,,last year i didn't have 07 bands on two youngster so I use 02 bands i had around but i make sure I wrote that on record..1392/02 Black Badge is realy an 07 birds .plus guys you never know those youngster might turn out really good and you want to use them in comp and you can't..you know what i mean.. and if you don't have bands can't get them because of money ask around for some old bands someone might have..I'm sure they will give them to you if they have extra..

Yea for me it' just a matter of timing, sometimes i am gone for long durations. also from my understanding it dosent matter in comp, unless it is specified a yearling team. in my opionion a band is like color or markings, really dosen't matter for me as long as the bird is doing what it should. however if i was getting into rollers and was big on paper this would be more important for my records as mentioned. cant really see the band when the bird's all roll the same...LOL
