There are several top notch fliers that fly Horner birds. Most have left this site and you may not get a response for awhile. There is one in particular who has competted at the top of national; international; and has won the State of California basically using Horner birds. Horner birds are Jac based birds.

I fly Danny Horner's bird. They have everything, velocity, speed, etc. The only thing is that it takes a while for them to get to their best. They don't start rolling until 4-6 months. I got my Honner birds from Brain MeCromick. He flies Honner birds and they are very good.

I have this family for the past 5 years or so. If you want to know any specifics, just ask.

Anyway, they tend to sky out of sight if you keep them on diet of Wheat or Wheat/Milo for sometimes. Other than that they are excellent, typy, small, good character and style. They don't have the extra ordenary deeper spin. They are good from 20 to 35'. They love to fly and ready to go everytime you open the kitbox. The best part is they cross easy with great sucess with any strain of rollers.

I've had His Family for the past 3 years. If You want to know any specifics, just ask.

Anyway, they tend to fly at 200 to 300 feet on a diet of straight White Wheat. Other than that, They are excellent, typy, small, good character and style. They have the extra ordinary deeper spin. They are good from 20' to 60'. They love to fly, and are ready to go, everytime You open the kit box. The best part is They do not cross easy with great success on most strains of rollers.
Chuck

tears of thunder,
I have a lot of 580 Redbar stuff. These Birds are a bit smaller than the others, but by far are the deepest in My Birds. These Guys can really smoke. A few can be a little bit reckless when They first come into the roll, but usally get it together after a few crashes. Most Guys don't wait and cull Them to early.

I was a backyard flyer for many years. I started competing in 2006. The reason I choose this Family is that They are easy to train, fly , and kit like glue. It also helps that Danny and I have become good Friends.

Chuck I find it odd that you give such high praise to the new line where as I feel quite the opposite about them. I prefer the old lines from the '90s myself. I find the new stuff that I have bred from the ones DH has sent out, don't roll to my satisfaction and are generally either stiff or on the hot side. They are smaller birds than the stuff from the '90s.

Tears of thunder, I have some blue bars from Danny who told me they come from the red bar stuff but I don't keep of pedigrees.

Chuck, I am surprised that you took my writing and changed it to the opposite spectrum..seems like we are flying two different strains. I've had the 60 footer ones on occasions but they don't last to make it the second year.

Jay,
I never have a problem with Birds over 9 or 10 months of age. Danny has had these Birds for 30 years and always feeds straight Wheat. Works for Me also. When Guys change things, it is bound to change the Family. Cliff wrote an article about this. See if You can find it and read it. If not, e-mail Him for it.

Chewy,
If Your Red Bars don't spin They ARE NOT from Danny. His 580 Red Bars are well know for Their Speed and Depth. Anyone can screw up Their Birds with the feed can. You also, should read Cliff's article.
Chuck
