I have recently obtained some pedigrees of the BOB Brown birds from John lucarrelli Toronto Flying Roller Club.

John lucarelli tells me Bob Brown used to win most of the flys in england with his birds I believe in the 60s. and 7os

I have a pic of him Hard copy with all his trophys a room full of them.
Including the 1979 trophy for champion single bird fly Rolled 25 rolls in 20 Min. Do you still have single bird flies in the UK

John Lucarelli tells me he went to england three times and stayed with bob brown.

John L really freaked me out was when he showed me a picture he had taken while visiting Bill Pensom .

I have tried to find out more information on Bob Brown through this site and it is limited .

Wayne from UK on the site told me their is a guy in Ireland has BOB Brown imports same as John L.

The pedigrees have some names listed on the odd bird suchas: OD Harris 1972 , Bill Barret 1972 ,Terry killick,Barry Shakleton 1973, RON ADAMS 1972,,Fred Sevins 1971 of Nottingham.

Are the UK flyers familiar with any of the above Gentilemen?

The above names only make up about only 10% of the birds listed on all the pedigrees the rest are all Bob Brown going back to 1965.

He had all his birds stolen in 1965 and could not go back any further with his current birds pedigrees.

I also have a record sheet
"The Ernie Stratford Champion Roller Trophy Competition"

BOB Brown won the single bird fly in 1972 his bird was the "All England Championship" the bird scored 156 points

Does the that compition continue to this date ?

I would appreciate any information anyone can provide on the above.

My friend has some birds from OD Harris Cross to Bill Barret and some pure strains from Barry Shakleton He got them back in the 70s if I'm right. They have not been cross to other strains just keeping the same line. Now he only has only the cocks as the hens can't fertile any more.

I belive if some one knows John Sandoval he should know more on this subject.

Have you read the book winners with spinners ,You will find interviews with
Barry Shackleton,
Bob Brown,
Bill Barret,
Ron Adams,
George Kitson,
Les Bezance,
John Thompson,
John Lenihan,
George Mason,
Ernie Stratford,
Tony sells the book guys.
Its well worth a read for anyone wanting to know English insight to the Birmingham roller with illustrated pictures in color,
Also the single bird competition does not exist over here in the UK i think this went years ago.
Ollie Harris is the backbone to lots of birds over here in the UK.

Hi Wayne,

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bill Barret cross to Ollie Harris is what Barry Shakelton made his line from?

I have got a copy of a video featuring most of those flyers,Bob Brown,Morris Hole,Bill Barret,George Mason, and others (Moderated),or if any one else wants one,no problem let me know, we visited with Bob at his home in Daisy Bank Terrace Wallsall, and to watch his birds in those days was a joy, never to be forgotten, top class working birds all, with an amount of top class rollers, and all with good depth, after watching Bobs birds you always got the impression they were competing again each other,as regards depth, also Bill Barrett who had possibly a classier type of roller, but with less frequency, and George Mason who was begining his rise to roller fame,as I say they are all on ,their methods, and general caffling and chit chat, with introductions by a Mr John Huntington in his own inimitable style.

Do you know a guy by the name of BRENDAN SHEEHAN from Waterford Ireland
I believe this guy has Bob Browns family of birds that go back many generations with nothing added.
I was talking to Brendan at the AERC last year he told me many of his birds are black self and really good birds. This guy can really talk i couldn't get away from him lol But a rather pleasant guy.
I also have the dvd with a buddy of mine John Huntington doing the interview with the old timers i could send canspinners a copy if he likes.

WELL LADS ,
From what ive been told , Barry shackletons birds are the base line for john wanlesses rollers ..... again a lot of blacks amongst them ......... from what ive seen as a new starter johns birds are about the best quality rollers ive witnessed , morris hole is still flying and iam sure if the scum bag thieves leave him alone , he will be winning again , morrises old line have been winning for a couple of lads from the consett and tyneside area of the north east and i was lucky enough to be given a few birds by old morris which had been in a winning kit last year to breed ,
i too have the dvd of the old timers .... and have watched it many , many times .. if only for huntingtons craic !!

all the best
