Aloha Thor,
Yes, it does help keep down the dust, but I still use a dust mask while scraping out the loft, just to be sure.

Looking at my pictures and Werstler's pictures you would think that we lived on different planets.

Yes I know there are alot of others who need to snowblow to thier lofts.
The pigeon seem to do ok with the snow, I've been doing it for 28 yrs, I only have the south side open so there is no draft.
This is anoughter loft further out.

House Fether dude...

I had a company come out and put it up for 2,000.00...with windows and sky lights installed...I payed for the window and sky lights..they installed...it is 9X14...I had to have a company come...out because I wanted it 9'wide for the three kit boxes side by side..and the Lowes and Tough sheds..only com in 8,10,12 anyway..thats it.

I did the inside myself...I have the floor plan on graph paper if you would like one....I have sent off a couple to people on this site already...anyway under the kit boxes..I had a tarp company make me a tarp and hung it on hangers...for easy poop clean up....so I have storage above and below the kit boxes...anyway...thanks..Let me know if you want a floor plan...I built the whole thing for about 2,700.00..lock stock and barrel

Aloha Guys,
Thanks for all the great comments.
The reason I constructed the loft so open is because of the humidity here. I live five miles from the wettest city in the U.S., with an average rainfall of at least 129 inches per year. So it gets really hot and humid here and without all that fresh air getting to the birds I don't think they would be happy campers. :) I know I wouldn't.
The only problem with it being open and in seperate areas is when it rains like the last couple days. (between 8 to 18 inches of rain in 24 hours.) :O Makes me wish that I had a loft like Paul's where everything is under one roof and you're able to "bird watch" without getting wet.

Aloha, Dexter

P.S. Russ, I live on the island of Hawaii, aka The Big Island. The one on the news now with all the flooding.

Everyone is welcome to stop by and shoot the s--t.
