I do know Al Luna. I visited he and Joey Cantaloupe 7 or 8 years ago and saw some of their birds fly. I spoke with Al at length about why he switched from his old line of Jaconnette birds which were some of the best stuff direct from the man himself.
Al told me most of the Jacs were only good for a couple of years and he wanted birds that held up in fine flying form for many years.
My own experience is that it all depends on which line of Jacs you have. I had some that I bred and reflew in kits till at least 5 years of age that were still spinning well.
I switched to a Pensom family down from Starley and Easley stuff to get better speed and style.

Hey Ken, Al spoke about you said you are a pretty good pigeon flyer, HE said that the jac he had were some good stuff like you said but needed some long time stabilty. The English birds are real stable. Ive now Al And Joey for about a year,I also fly English rollers. The reason i ask who you are is because Al said to tell you hi, And ask how are things going, So fly on.... Russ......... Ragin Rollers

Hi Russ,
say hi to Al for me! Let him know I'm doing fine, just not as much time with the birds wnow that I have 3 little ones running all over the place. A man's got to keep hi priorities in line.
I'd sure like to get back down and see Al, it;s just I don't have any opportunity to travel to AZ anymore for work. If I get down there again though, I'll be sure and give him a call.
Regards,
Ken
PS. you know there was a guy in our club that picked up 10 squeekers from Joey in one of the auctions. He never had much luck witht them though. He found it hard to get them to fly and get off the roof! Another guy now has a few of them that were left and seems to like em. I really liked the simultaneous breaking style that they had when I saw em fly at Joey's. I've never seen anything like it in any other kit I've ever seen.
