Is this a roller band, guys? The bird is deceased, but I need to let the finder know a little bit of info and would like to let the owner of the bird know also. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. The person reporting this bird to 911 Pigeon Alert described the body as being dessicated, so I ASSumed that meant quite dead.
If the bird did belong to the gentleman that you posted, I ASSume that he would be a member of the SARC club, whatever that may stand for. Would that be correct?

Hey MKG, Terry provides an excellent service trying to reunite birds with their owners. Don't jump to conclusions until you know what is actually going on. Just MO. Geo.

I dont give a rats%%% if some one keeps a bird they find just tell the truth. So many people find birds and what cash for finding it. Some will say it dead and want to know more about the lines it off. like whos the breeder just like they asked 911. Tell me why the finder would care .I dont think the birds dead and i dont think im jumping anywhere thats just mo.

No need to argue here gentlemen. For the record, I am a female, and my given name is Teresa. I am one of the moderators on 911 Pigeon Alert and do my best to try to assist members of the public get banded pigeons that they find returned to the rightful owner or placed in a good home if the owner cannot be located or does not want the bird back. When birds are found dead and reported to 911 Pigeon Alert, we do make an effort to locate the owner and notify that person.
Most people that find banded pigeons and report them to 911 Pigeon Alert have never had a close encounter with a pigeon of any type before, and without exception, they feel they are doing the right thing by trying to find the owner of the bird. Many of these people go above and beyond in caring for a found bird, and quite a few of them end up adopting the pigeon they found when the owner cannot be located or does not want the bird back.
The Rollers that get reported to us with the exception of those banded with NBRC bands are very, very difficult for us to trace. It seems that there is this secret society of roller fanciers, and heaven help any outsider wanting to get information regardless of the reason. Having said that, I'm still going to come here to post found rollers until Tony says I can't. Any help received is always appreciated.
Also, for the record, I have PET pigeons (yes, you can go ahead and laugh) .. about 60 of them. All are rescues and many of them are unclaimed banded birds. I have rollers, racing pigeons, many breeds of show/fancy pigeons, and yes, the dreaded ferals. I happen to love pigeons, so I am happy to have them as part of my family flock. I don't fly them, currently don't show them, or intentionally let them breed. At some point, I may decide to try my hand at showing some of my pets just to see how what was a throw away bird does. I'm betting that some of them are good enough to at least place.
OK .. that's my story, and I'm sticking to it LOL!
Again, no reason for anyone to get their feathers ruffled!

Thanks for the recent replies! In case the members here are not aware of it, 911 Pigeon Alert had to be pretty much shut down because we did not have enough volunteers to handle the huge volume of birds that were being reported to us. The site does still exist, but it is now "manned" by a computer which replies to people reporting birds with information about how to contact the national associations for banded birds or refers them to the Pigeon-Talk discussion board for unbanded birds or those banded with difficult to trace bands. I wish we could have kept going, but it simply became impossible to keep up with.
I still help with birds that come my way here in Southern California and with those that show up on Pigeon-Talk. I'll still be popping in here with any banded rollers that come my way.
I do check in here every couple of days just to see what's going on the Roller world.
As to flying my rollers .. most of them have injuries that preclude them ever really flying again, but I'm sure I could easily get hooked on flying rollers if I didn't have a Coopers visiting my yard every couple of days. There's a fellow here in my neighborhood that flies his racing pigeons every morning and afternoon .. can't tell you how many close calls I have seen with the hawk(s) going after his racers. I'm too big of a softie to put my birds at that kind of risk.
Hope all of you and your birds are doing well!
Terry
