John, Hey thanks, yeah very cool.I've got mine doing dives but they haven't started spinning yet.It is a matter of having enough time and good weather to get them up practicing but I'll get them there. The video you sent is great, best I've seen and gives me a good idea of what to expect out of my birds. Hey,I know your Dad has Doneks and wondering if he ever takes them slightly(like maybe 1/2 a city block or so)away from the loft to get them higher?I've been flying 2 at a time along with a roller to get them to some altitude, which is working but curious if taking them a little distance away would help? Thanks again.Any info on these birds is much appreciated. Kel. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
PS,nice lookin' girl too!!

I thought you might like it I cam e accross it about a week ago. I think this one is from Australia I am unable to link to the web site advertized at the end of the video can you can you try it with your computer to see if you get a link.
Kel the donecks in this vid are very rare and hard to come by their spin is different....they spin with their whole body all the way to the ground. Also there breed alot of variety of birds self ,mottles, same as the rollers do.
The doneks you have will do something very similiar, the will spinn take a breif break and spin the other way they are good donecks as well.
I suggest you train them form your coop location unfortanately they do not have great homing instinct.let them go up and use droppers to drop them they should dive straight inthe coop or in front of it. After they are up and you have them trained to go up and down start to flag them up ...they should go higher. Don't let them go to high to early give them time a soon as you have a good month of trining you can incourage them to go.
I suggest you use a tippler as the donecks will start to copy the rollers and ride their tails. atippler will take them up and keep them over the coop. Gota go now let me know if you get into the web site I want to contact the individual who has these birds
John, Guess I'll have to get a pair of Tipplers then.Is that right,eh,they'll copy the Rollers!?Will the Tippler drop with the Doneks?I'm not even sure how they fly.Could I e-mail you if I have some more questions?Old Pavlos is hard to get ahold of and he is the only other guy I know who knows about Donek Pigeons. I tried logging onto that website but no luck. Thanks, Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
A friend of ours flys one tippler he sends his donecks out one at a time they go up and find the tippler. They make a couple of turns around the house when they are in postion to spin he lets out a Droper and the bird dives and spins down and into the coop. Then he gets the next bird and sends it out and it joins the tippler. Kel you can e-mail me at jkouzos@sympatico.ca.
John, Thanks a lot.. that stirred an old memory. Before I ever saw a roller roll, I read about it in a book, and I had a dream that the birds were rolling like Doneks do... This is actually the first time I've seen their performance. Somehow I thought they rolled faster than the ones in the video. Paul G
Divers are the future with the bop situation at the moment get some pics up of your doneks we have the doneks over here in the UK and we have dewlaps and kelebeks to. Steve0...
John Jones' neighbor had Doneks and Greek Wutas. They would dive with wings closed and open and straight dive, spiral spin. awesome birds! he was a big middle eastern breed man (dewlaps and turbiteens to mention a few) he was also our club president at the time (local all breed club). ---------- Gary
Nice to see so many other individuals are at least aware of donek spinners.
Ithink the individual who made the video has actual slowed down the footage so you can have a better llok of the spin.
the donecks in the video are a different strain they do not open their wings at all thats what makes them unique and rare.
Must have some nice birds in the UK would imagine importing is easier. Most of these birds all originated in Turkey. I have never seen a dewlap in person or in the air ,no one here seems to know of them.I have seen them on some turkish sites (they decorate them with earrings)'do the dewlaps dive like wutas?
The most incredible sight I ever saw was at an old turkish fellows coop he let one kit of 50 wutas go up 15min later he let up a second kit.
The second kit would circle below the first one in oppisite direction. All birds were fitted with a pigeon whistle on their leg.
When he let out his droppers the birds started to dive .I had to run for cover they sounded like bombs dropping it was incrediblle

John, Thanks for your e-mail.I think it was Angelo who put me onto Pavlos.I'd never seen that website before tho, good one lots of pictures.I've got to get some up on here. Hey,is your Dad still around? He looks still young and healthy in the photos. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
Yeah my dad still has his birds...yeah some of these guys have kept my dad as their best kept secret they know they can get top birds from him at a low and reasonnable rate. So they don't lke to give out informationm about their main suppliers.
It would be great if you can get some pics of them posted.
Kel how are your rollers do you have Monty Neible line of birds ?
I know,I know,I gotta take some pics and get em' up here.Something happened to me this winter when I came back from that warm weather in South America my blood went thick or something and I'm in slow motion. John,I've taken your advice and cut their feed back and even after only 2 days of cutting their feed they are flying better today. Yes I have Monty birds by way of Doug Mitchell,Al Hunt and Aaron Johnson.Pretty much all the Rollers I'm flying are ones I've bred as the ones I got from those guys are either in the breeder loft pumping and fostering or the BOP have taken them.I have the henery here something awful and the rollers just get massacred.Anyways,,,,still breeding them another season at least. They sure can spin when they get a chance and I love to see it. The Doneks are sure cool to watch dive and cavort about the sky and I hope to have better luck as far as losses go with this breed.Hey,best wishes to your Dad,eh.And tell him thanks for all he has done to propagate the breed.Talk soon. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
If I had more space,I would have me some divers, either doneks Wutas or Dewlaps. When I spoke with Heine, his rollers seemed to be more of a serious job,but when he spoke of his Dewlaps his eyes glowed and he giggled.I kinda do the same thing with my Parlors...Aloha,Todd
Todd, Well you're pretty lucky down there in the Alohazona with the BOP situation I beleive. But listen,if you got some divers you wouldn't regret it. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
Sorry for the delayed response to our video. Thx so much for linking it here:) If you have any questions relating to the pigeons or the music please dont hesitate on contacting us at victoriapetkova_au@yahoo.com.au. We'd be happy to share information with you.
Beautiful video and music and Victoria you're pretty good lookin' too!.Thanks for bumping it up as I'd forgotten it was here!I've raised about 25 Doneks this season and have really been enjoying flying them. They are spinning well and diving real deep, but I still don't have any Tipplers to fly them with.Tipplers are the only breed I need to be set for retirement. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
I have a pair of Dewlaps. An Blue bar earing,Ablaq hen and a Mfattel Ash'ari, pied cock. I'm going to train some squeaks out of them this spring. Victoria, maybe you can come prance around my yard with your guitar when I fly them. My neighbors already think I'm nuts, that will put them over the edge!!!
hi guys,,,there is plenty of this type of donek in melbourne,,how many do you want,,,there is a diffrence ,,the ones that do the tight drill spin are usualy called botska,,the ones that dive in a bigger spiral are called doneks,,the botska have groused legs the donek has clean,,il try and get a video up of my doneks for you soon,,to much cloud and rain here at the moment,,,cheers ---------- FLY HIGH=ROLL DEEP
thank pigeonflipper for that info on botska and doneks I did not know that, but I have a friend that have clean leg doneks and they do the tight spins and the spiral. This is my first year breeding and my doneks start spiraling at about 4 months and start getting faster at about 6. I would love to find some botskas. I will get pics up of my doneks some time this week. ---------- Justin
SSLOFTS hehe I'm sure your neighbours would truly find that strange, but it's not about them, it's all about the pigeons right;) Hope all is well with you and ur birds! Same goes for all!
