I have had squirrels take eggs before and rats and snakes. Usually not just one though except squirrels. If an egg goes bad and starts to sweat sometimes it will stick to the bird as they leave the nest and break. They will sometimes eat the shell when this happens.

gotta be a rat in the loft WAtTs. only thing I can thinkl of. they can get in the smallest places. If his head fits, his body will follow. check all around the floor. gotta be a hole somewhere, or hes got a nest and stays there

you would be surprised what rats and mice can do. They are masters at entering lofts. 4ft off the ground, ive seen them climb walls before. put down some traps and see what you get.

They can get in from the top of the loft or the trap. It doesn't have to be the floor.

But if you have varmints snatching the eggs, then you would be losing more than couple. The pigeons won't be laying eggs fast enough for them varmints.

Happen to me before. My hen would eat the eggs. Sometime she eats one and sometime 2. After a week, and it's gone. I notice them eating it because I was spying on them.

you know what luis, that sound like a perfect name for my bird's band. LOL. seriously. I can't believe that hen did that. I think it's a lack of calcium too. It really disappoint me when that hen was eating her egg. I was about to throw her in the trash, but she was one of my best, so I couldn't.

Yeah Washington that's usually the problem. They sell a liquid form (calcium gluconate)pretty cheap for calcium deficiency.I think Tony has it.It works well and its easy to use.I'll give it to my hens about once a month, especially during the laying cycles.

Kool. I'll order it soon. Now, I feed them oyster shells, and it's helping my breeders a lot. They seem to eat more oyster shells then their actual food.

Does this only happen to one of your pair, only. If so, I think the hen or the cock is eating the eggs. I experience mine eating their eggs. They even eat the shell of the eggs, leaving no trace of the eggs. Check to see if you see any wet spot on the nest. I use to have this pair that I breed in individual pen, and they would eat their eggs a couple of days after the second is legged. I now use her eggs for fostering underneath my racer's tummy.
