after giving it much thought I have decided not to breed any more birds after this first round. I will be putting all my stock back into a kit box and flying them.

After spending 15 years working with racehorses and all the straw dust and dirt dust going into my lungs ,then breeding Birds for another 10 years and roosters for a few years too.

I have decided that I will save whats left of my lungs and just buy a kit or two each spring and just Fly birds.

I will leave the Breeding to all the fellas with Good Lungs.

Good luck with your new plans. I personally love breeding birds, it fun trying to get your own thoughts on what pairs would give the best offspring. I love flying too, but don't think I would appreciate the birds as much if I didn't breed them...

But I understand, you have to take care of #1 and that you and your family. I guess it's better than giving up rollers completely. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably do the same, but don't think I would fly my breeders. I think I would give my breeders to someone and just get some of the young to fly.

That will be the ultimate TEST to see if these Birds can hold thier MUD.

if they cant get back into shape within a month off flying then they aint worth messing with anyway.

George is it that bad?Just wearing a respirator around the birds will usually take care of the problem. Also don't take the clothes you wear in the loft into the house.Wash yourself up after being with the birds and you're good.Even if you just keep kit birds and you have a problem you will have to follow these guidelines.Just a thought.

Hey George, I am really sorry that you are having to make that call. After a lifetime around animals its so sad to think that it has led you to almost have to give them up.

This is a powerful lesson for everyone to use the best lung protection you can afford when cleaning and spending extended lengths of time handling birds and such.

Hope all goes well for you and your innovative plans!
