The first Time I ever saw a Roller was when I was about

8 years old . I paid 5 dollers for a red white flight badge NBRC band it was at Wess's Pet shop in El Monte Calif.

I homed it for about a month and then I let it go with all my other Birds strait out of the Loft.

Man that Bird would roll fast and deep and Frequent, I would come home from school and release the Birds and go up on the Roof of my house and sit Back and watch the show.

I never told any one at school or my Family because I thought they would think I was smoking KOOLS ( PCP very popular in the hood in those days).

I dont remember what ever happened to that badge but he will always Hold a special place in my Memory's when I was a Kid

George,
You are joking right? WW2 is long over, but the men who fought and died for our country still matter. History never goes away. Nor does it's effect on the future. The only lofts in the USA that do not owe all the roll they have to Mr. Pensom and the birds he brought to this country are the guys who have recently imported birds. George, 99.9 percent of all good rollers in the USA today can be traced back to the birds and the Man Pensom. Even the Mongrel rare color breeders got all their roll from the Pensom line of birds. They used the Pensom birds to cross on other breeds then back to the Pensom line's to get the roll. Only a FOOL disrespects history and the men who worked and set the foundation of this breed for future generations. Without Pensom, we would have to import birds to get good rollers in the USA. We all owe Pensom a great deal of respect for what he did for the Birmingham roller in this country. I know, Today most guys want to blow hot air up their own horn! To them I say, LOL.. Just my honest opinion George. KGB

I agree Ken all the Birds do go back to Pensom.

but is it fair to call the Birds Pensoms if he (Pensom) did not put the pairs together and or pick them out of the air or off the perch to breed.

what Im trying to say is once you pair them up and breed them there know your creation.

I think that would show Pensom respect by being Honest

Those legends have much to offer the fancy today.Today I still read there books ,bulletins where ever they left there print.
I give them and always will, credit for these birds we call The Birmingham roller in keeping them pure ,feeding ,training selecting for breeding .all the hard work they did in the past so we can have what we have today.there philosophy was I have come this far now its up to you to go forward from here .They pass the torch .lets take it and move forward . but Never forget what they did for us..for those that are no longer with us R.I.P and Thank You..

George,
Yea, for most I think it works just like a Dixie paper cup dispenser! Disposable and non useable after one drink! They breed birds from someone else and in one generation they are the creator of a strain or family. What kind of instant gratification generation do we live in? We will just have to agree to disagree on this George. I think it takes years to found a family or create a line. 90 percent of birds and breeders will be forgotten before they ever get out of rollers. Reason, they think they did something in a few years and forget those who did it before them. It's a life time project George . If you don't respect Pensom for what he did for this breed, why would you think you created something in a year that anyone else will remember? Give it some thought. KGB

Ken

If a person fly's a Kit of non rolling stiff's and then tells everyone they are PENSOMs is that what you call RESPECT.

If you look at the original post that I answered Cliff said someone sold him some pedigreed Pensoms.

Whoever sold Cliff those Birds DRUG Pensoms name through the MUD.

Just so you know I dont disrespect no one LIVING or DEAD I just tell the truth and if it HURTS Ohh Well.
